The key to weight loss...

Jon, I'm following the diet you've described to the letter except for not drinking my diet coke. I follow the diet because I'm diabetic and the diet you described sounds just like the diabetic diet. I haven't been told that I can't drink diet cokes but that blood on the highway thing, well let's just say I can't finish the one I'm drinking now. :8o: I'm have a double whammy going here right now. Not only have I quit smoking and gained weight but I just found out that my thyroid gland is underactive. WAY underactive. My TSH level is 54.48 and the normal is .2 to .5. No wonder my britches have been getting tighter. My doctor put me on 125 mcg of Synthroid for now and it will probably have to be increased in the next week. Maybe once my thyroid hormone level is where it should be, I'll lose the weight I gained. Meanwhile, I reckon I'll give up my diet cokes. Hey Pen, (I have an inside track on this,) there are no actual regulations on bottled water so far in Canada or US, you could be drinking a puddle from down the street. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 86 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,150 Amount Saved: $907.30 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 12 Mins: 51 Seconds: 16

Hi Jon, Thanks for this, I've learnt something today but tell me, are there any benefits in purchased bottled water over regular old tap water and if so why is there such a difference in price in the bottled waters? Is that due to the romance of the Pyreneean gush down a tranquil moonlit glade versus some sploshing going on in some miserable back-creek flow? In other words do I turn on the tap or rush to Stop and Shop? Cheers! :) PS Congrats on 36 days! Lolo, Water is the only thing thats really good to drink. Sugar free drink mixes are ok BUT the artificial sweeteners are terrible for your health. I like vitamin water but theres 32Grams of sugar/carbs in every bottle. I treat myself to 1 of those a day, the rest is water. I starting using the suff u can add to water. Does anyone know the health benefits on these. I quit drinking iced tea too when I quit smoking. Now I just let myself have it once in awhile as a treat. The tea I drank was 90 calories at 1 cup serving. I drank like a half gallon a day.So my little tip--Stay away from premade tea. If you add the sugar then you know what is going into it. I just try to stay away from it as much as possible. Diet Soda = Poison. Any doctor will tell you that even regular soda is better for you. If you really love soda have 1 or 2 cans a week as a treat. As far as artificial sweeteners, those are evil too. I believe the least evil one is splenda. However they all contain aspertame, something that barely got approved by the FDA that is not good for your body. Stick to mainly drinking water.
