The key to weight loss...

jonthedj, Thanks for the great advice. I think I have gained about 3 to 5 pounds...which I don't think is too bad. I feel more bloated though. I feel as if the scale should say I gained more. hmmmmn?? I like to add one thing.... (if I may :)) We should all take advantage of the nice weather. There is no excuse not to burn a couple hundred extra calories off a day now. Walk after dinner....put more effort into the flower beds... or get the bike out and ride around the neighborhood. I think it will make us feel better about our weight gain... and it is a mood elevator and we can strut our healthy stuff!! Thanks for the tips Jon, those all sound reasonable. As for the diet soda, I've often wondered about that. Primarily because I cut it out while I was pregnant and I only gained about 20-25 lbs both times and I certainly ate more than other times. Now, with quitting I've gained a good 10 lbs in a month or two. So, I think I'm going to experiment with cutting back on the diet soda AND artificial sweeteners in general. Maybe nutrisweet and saccharine are making us fat?! :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 39 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 477 Amount Saved: $159.12 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 16 Mins: 18 Seconds: 15

Heres what Ive learned over the years. 1- Diet Soda is garbage. Don't be fooled by the stats. The acids and other chemicals found in diet soda not only keep you from loosing weight but also weaken your bones. Did you know cola is what they use to clean bloodstains off the highway? Its true! 2. Limit and choose your carbs wisely- Keep to small amounts of whole wheat/ whole grain crabs. They break down slower and with excercise and be tuned into protein instead of fat. 3. Eat 5 small meals a day instead of 3 regular meals. Starving yourself is never the awnser. Eat often and eat light with smaller portions. Fruit is good, but be carefull about eating too many fruits with high amounts of sugar liek peaches or pineapple. 4. Remeber you already have much to be proud of. You are no longer keeping yourself at risk for lung disease or lung cancer. 10-15 lbs is a fair trade for not skoking anymore. Once you feel confident that the smoking is over, then work at loosing weight and bettering yourself.
