Just a reminder. You'll be thinking about cigarettes just as much if you smoke. When you quit you think of smoking and when you smoke you obsessed with quiting. Mise well think about cigarettes quit. It's all normal and it doesn't last forever. You can't get to the other side unless you hang on tight and get through it. You can do it. OK. Stop what you are doing and slow your breathing right down. Unclench that jaw! If you wait for 2-3 minutes, the 'can't cope panicky feeling' will pass. Sip water or eat some fruit. In between each panic, you will have intervals of more lucid thought (well realtively anyway!). Ride each crave as it comes. Fight each one minute by minute. It's not like this for long, so keep going. You will get better and better at controlling things. You are doing great! Really. Hey bulldog! I can't add much more by the way of advice - hopefully things have gotten a bit better. Deep breathing and even if you can walk around the office, the building or wherever you are, it will help. You don't ever want to have to go through this again and so maybe spend a few minutes thinking about a reward for after work. A movie, a good dinner, an electronics gadget you've been wanting, a new tool, a loooong walk or even a bath. You can always just go to bed after the day is over if nothing else helps. Let us know how you are doing! Hi Bulldog - hope you can hang in there. It will be so worth it. I found it very interesting that a lot of what I attributed to "withdrawal" could just as easily be attributed to low blood sugar. Since I have made extra effort to eat frequently (not necessarily alot), my "withdrawal/ craving" has eased up a lot. Deep breathing, water, checking in here, Chantix have all helped too but the eating thing, at least for me, has made the most difference. (I'm one of those folks who could go all day without eating when I was smoking). Hope it helps and hang in there. Bulldog, These are all related to anxiety and tension caused by quitting. Relaxation techniques and physical activity should help. Hang in there! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I've been smoke free for a couple of days now. This is my third attempt at quitting. I'm on the patch currently... I'm at work right now and I am having trouble coping with the withdrawls. I'm having headaches, can't concentrate and keep clenching my teeth. I feel like I may relapse and have a cigarette... anyone have any tips for me right now? I know this is a rough patch and it does get easier, but I'm stressed and feel like this may be affecting my job!
