Hey Penquin! Glad you're better today! I have had trouble with coming off the patches in the past. yes it is a matter of being a bit more creative sometimes to get where you want to go! Keep breathing deep breaths! The straws or coffee stir stix help alot too! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 133 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,325 Amount Saved: $1,403.15 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 6 Mins: 49 Seconds: 7

What a difference a day makes!!!! Getting out of bed yesterday and making the choice to stop wallowing in self pity was the right thing to do. Had a great day yesterday...anxiety filled, but not fear filled. I am back to feeling that I am on the right road here...this is where I want to go and I have a plan of how to get there...a major accountability and recognition plan. Most people who know me would say I am very strong and very accountable, and confident....well...I'm going to start thinking of myself that way. I am not going to try to forget about smoking. No point in getting angry because the thoughts are still there after such and such a time. As I tell my son often..."that's the way it is." What will be will be. Move on Penquin....live life and you will be free. We're all behind you Penguin. Just thought up a good coping strategy for your craves... Drop the C Crank up the stereo And turn them into ...RAVES! Jump around, flap those wings, dance until your webbed feet are sore. I'll bring my CD collection ;) x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 195 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,485 Amount Saved: 1,072.50 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 6 Mins: 29 Seconds: 28

Penguin, We are pulling for you! Keep utilizing those coping strategies and distractions. If under the covers is where you need to be than so be it! If you're sick of being there, than go out and have some fun! Remember, hell week is temporary and you have a whole gang cheering you on today! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi, penguin. Whatver it takes for you to keep your quit today is what you should be doing today. It's great that you recognize that you have trouble coming off the patch & you're going to have to work that out. But you don't have to do it today. Get through these hard few days and save the thinking for when you're back to yourself. Of course you can fly. If a horse, a goat & a llama can get into a treehouse, a penguin can most certainly fly! Sending you strength & love. Penguin, for what it's worth... I think you CAN fly. :) But getting out of bed is a heck of a good start! Our thoughts are with you today. We know what it's like, but we also know that you've been here before and shown that you have what it takes to move on. And you'll do that again! Hi penguin, Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday. Taking it one minute at a time is a very sensible idea, not thinking to far in the past or the future. Good luck, hope you have a better day. Yesterday was hard...very hard. Spent most of it under the covers. I tried to figure out exactly what I was feeling......FEAR.....Fearful that I would snap someones head off. After 25 years, hubby knows the look and let me do what I had to do. I went to bed saying that today would be better and I woke up asking for guidance and committing to be smoke free today. I will also try a little harder to meet life today. Yes, Sparky you are right. When I go off the patch....Craves...like I have never experienced. I realized this while on my relapse and have been thinking about what to do about it this time. Right now I am treating the thoughts as craves and thinking them through and making attempts at using some coping techniques. Practice for when the real thing happens. And yes, I am considering the gum, but that is a ways down the road yet. So, here I go...another day...taking it 5 minutes at a time and one crave (or thought) at a time. Thanks for all your responses.
