Hi Museluver and a belated thanks for your nice note!  I was trying to catch up on some of the forums and just saw your message.  I had a rough week but I am feeling better about the rest of today and the rest of my week.

Haven't seen you posting in awhile and hope that this is a good sign that things are going well for you!

Carmie I also found that by asking myself questions and answering, I was able to understand what was happening to my mind, this was when I had my lightbulb moment & took myself off SSRI's after 23 years on them (not recommended unless you have your Drs permission).
From your post it sounds that by doing this exercise you have had your light bulb moment, its like an epiphany. Well done, way to go girl.

Hi Vicenza and Carmie,
i am actually trying to do the same thing. And sometimes i find it very helpful but depening on how strong my anxious thoughts are sometimes i feel i cant go against it... so i just start trying to get my mind of it in doing something that keeps me busy. But of course the thoughts always come back. But i also find it a good idea to actually write it down! I think i have to try that out!

Vincenza, I was sharing with another member that answering these questions may be what has helped me the most!  After taking the time on many occasions to answer these formally by writing down my answers, it has become a habit for me to start asking these when I have negative thoughts - and they work like medicine!  It is a gift to know how to use these!

On the 20th we asked you to track your overgeneralizations. Did you find that you have a tendency to overgeneralize? It is very important to challenge these thoughts to see how realistic they are. We encourage you to ask yourself the 10 questions used to challenge your negative thoughts found below. 

1.    What’s the evidence that the thought is true?
2.    What’s the evidence that the thought is not true?
3.    What is the worst possible thing that could happen and how would you cope if it did happen?
4.    What’s the best possible thing that could happen?
5.    What would most likely happen and how would you cope if that happened?
6.    What’s another way of thinking about this situation? What else could be going on?
7.    What would you tell a friend of yours if they were in this situation and had the same negative thought?
8.    What’s the effect of believing the negative thought?
9.     What would happen if you didn’t believe the negative thought?
10.    What are some alternative thoughts in this situation?

Today we encourage you to look at your tracking results and share what patterns you have
identified.
