Hi D:  Hope all goes well with your son.  Keep the positives going and as others have written, take it one day at a time, take it easy, be good to yourself.  Yesterday is gone, tomorrow isn't here yet and today is all we have.

Deb,
Building on what Red says, taking care of you is critical.  All the caregivers also realize the trap we fall into, where there's a seeming hurricane of needs taking place, and you're swept up in it.

Find the eye of the store, and restore yourself.  And keep asking for help, as hard as it seems, as much as it hurts your pride, since it appears this will go on for a long time

The stronger, better rested, poised you are, the better everything that follows will be

Debora,
It's still a little early in the am here..I want to thank you for the prayers..I am so sorry you are having some problems with your special needs son and his teacher..This must be very stressful. I know when I was a caregiver it took a major toll on my health and caused me a lot of anxiety. I really didn't take care of myself during this period. So that is what I am learning to do now. I understand how difficult it can be and my heart goes out to do during this difficult period..I want to encourage  you to take time out for your self and give your self some tender loving care each day..Your mind and body will love you for it.You will be in my prayers Debora..

Hi Red,

I also wanted to say I am praying for you. I really could relate too you're post about having anxiety when feeling sick, I think everyone does even the ones who do not suffer from panic disorder. I just wanted you too know I am praying and rooting for you. If this helps my boss from several years ago {and he is still alive and kicking in his seventies} had diverticlutis too, I am probably spelling that wrong, that was in the eighties and he got treatment I know and felt better and got better and the technology is so much better today I was thinking you would get better even quicker with all the advances made. My computer has been acting up and we lost power today for three hours, I just saw you're post tonight I have been thinking of you.

Sunny wrote a wonderful post it really hit home and I so agree with it. I will write tommorow and hope its a good day for you, I am under the weather myself fighting off a cold and my monthly is due and I always "go down" during that time, also very bad problems with my special-needs son and his teacher, I will save that for another time, to long and depressing too go into now. I know the antibotics will kick in, that is one thing that works for me always and I am very med phobic, I know you will be fine, and I so understand what you are going through I related to every word you and Sunny said in this post.

Did you ever see the movie Leap Year" with Amy Adams? everytime I watch that it lessens my anxiety and increases my hope, if you get a chance please watch it, its such a feel good movie, I missed "Gone with the wind" tonight due to family problems. Praying for us all. Thank you.

Sorry Red!

I'm not sure why I called you Jdoe?! I prefer Red myself

The Zoo! Haha I love your spirit. I also love the zoo! But you are probably right, it is better to rest up; maybe watch a nature documentary instead? Anything narrated by David Attenborough

Your attitude about how you are feeling sound to be very positive and healthy.  Keep it up!

Take care,

Hi R:  I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for you too.  It is not easy when we don't know what's ahead regarding illnesses.  I have some divurticulitis too.  They found it when I had a colonoscopy a few yrs. ago.  Even with gall bladder out, I still get terrible pains and acid reflux once in awhile.  It takes about a wk. to get back normal.

I remember sitting all summer with my eyes closed most of the time, lots of pain and the anxiety/stress of it all.  I felt as though the summer was passing me by (which it was) and the doctors were on holidays, my gp, and my eye doctor and the specialist too, one after the other, when I needed them.  I felt like i was falling through the cracks and nobody cared.  Then of course I realized I was feeling sorry for myself at times and needed to find something positive about the situation.  In my case, it was the rest and reading.  Even though my eyes hurt I could still read for an hour or so at a time as long as i kept them well lubricated - yea, fuzzy reading at times, lol   I used to think, aren't I lucky I don't have to go to work like this, I can just sit around and relax, and also that I didn't have little ones at home to take care of.  Of course, when the pain got really bad, it got me down again but I knew it was a matter of time before it got better and hung onto that thought.

Your body wants to heal, it just takes time and soon the antibiotics will kick in.  Sometimes it helps me to think that we are lucky to be able to get the medical help we need compared to third world countries.

Just some thoughts and keep the faith.  You're going to make it. :-)  We are here anytime you need to talk about it.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the support and suggestion. Thats what I am doing..Thinking of the positives..The main one is I am really not feeling to bad today..I don't feel sick which surprises me. So maybe I am on the mend..From a mental prospective I think I will feel much better when we have more facts.
Right now there are lots of unknowns..The doctors and I will know more after further testing is done..So for now I am going to be happy with the fact that I am not feeling to bad..I am actually thinking about going to the zoo today..Of course my better judgment tells me that I really should stay home and rest today..You see one of the problems I have had in the past is ignoring my health. I guess you could call it avoidance. That if I act like nothing is wrong than nothing will be wrong.
So this time I am forcing myself to listen and rest like I know I should..That's what I am trying to do anyway..I have one last question for you. Why have you started addressing my as Jdoe? I much prefer to be called Red...Even though I am sick I am still Red..Still the same old Red I always was and you know what I like her...She is my best friend...

Hi Jdoe,

Keep talking about it and keep talking to loved ones for support. It might be hard to find the positives now but no we are all thinking of you and care. You are not alone in this.
