Is anyone else going through peri-menopause?

Hi Lorlee, The signs & symptoms of peri-menopause are as follows: Menstrual irregularities, hot flashes, sleeping disturbances, decreased vaginal lubrication, increase susceptibility to urinary tract and yeast infections, decreasing fertility, decreasing libido, higher cholesterol and loss of bone. Hot flashes and sleeping disturbances may be of most troubling to those with panic. Hot flashes include sudden feelings of warmth, racing heartbeart, sweating, looking flushed and feeling chilled as the hot flash subsides. Tips to help? * Don't let your core temperature fluctuate too much. This can bring on hot flashes * Exercise! This helps with bone loss, regulating sleeping disturbances and the occurence of hot flashes. * Avoid caffeine, smoking, hot & spicy foods and alcohol are known triggers of hot flashes. Hope this helps. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi everyone, Well it looks like I am in it and I was wondering how others were coping with the symptoms and problems that come with it. What are your symptoms?? This is really heating up my panic and I would like to find ways to cope. I have been trying to challenge my thoughts and work the program but there are some days that is not so easy. For instance the other night while watching tv all of a sudden my heart started to race. It did not start out as panic but turned into it when I felt I could not slow it down by deep breathing. Is this normal? I am used to the heart palpitations but not the racing heart.
