YES, congratulations. This is positive over negative and the basis of CBT. Now to expand your safe area from the chair out ward using the same relaxation and coping skills and over time the middle of the night episodes will go away. That is pretty much how I did it. And It surprised me the first time I told myself to stop doing it and go back to sleep.
My recliner is a Sears electronic and now the only time I sleep in it is If my legs are too sore to sleep in my bed. I have Arthritis so some times my legs are pretty bad.
Keep us posted we may have other tips to help out. You should still do the program to learn why and help expand that safe circle.
I went to bed as normal,and was woke up again at 2am,but this time i tries something differant...
I got up,and came to my recliner,and told myself to stop it,and talked in my head with things like,this will pass,this will not control me,iam ok, ect...it didnt last long,i did some deap breahting exersiseing,and fell back to sleep in my chair.slept all the rest of the night too!!!
I feel safe in my chair..and its my comfort zone..
