New-anyone ever heard of this panic symptom?

Renee, no I have never actually passed right out, its a really weird sensation. My eyes blur, its a bit like what happens if you look at a bright light then look away, you can't see patches and everything looks twinkly - its very hard to explain. I also find everything goes quite white and bright. The funny thing is that this has happened out of nowhere, not when I've been aware of feeling stressed or anything. I guess its probably something to do with the subconcious. I'm glad you like my handle, I got it from the Looney Tunes Cartoon! Taz is my favourite character. I try to see the funny side of things and enjoy once in a while getting in touch with the inner child (even though I'm 25) and maybey watching the muppets or something like that. I think its much healthier than watching some violent action movie. I refuse to fill my head with any sort of violent or disturbing images (which is hard to do with whats on TV these days) so I stick to comedies or cartoons or anything light hearted and funny - works for me! :)

Renee, Dont worry, I have had the symptoms that you explained also.It is so scary when you feel like you cant see. (well along with everything else) I have never passed out, but I have that feeling alot. I started having panic attacks when I was 19 years old. I'm 31 now. I really think that bad relationship problems with my first husband brought them on. He kept me upset almost every second we were together. Whats weird is that I went for about 2 years without having any attacks,(after my divorce). I was sure I was "cured". These just started back a few months ago. I had forgotten how intense and scary they could be, but like you I knew immediately what was happening to me. Just for the record I have been to numerous doctors and had every test in the book over the years. They found nothing wrong with me and some even made me feel like they thought I was lying about my problems or making them up. Try not to stress too much, I know thats alot easier said than done. I wish you the best of luck. Keep posting on here it has helped me so much knowing there are others who have the same problems that I do. Sammi ;)

Taz, Thanks so much for YOUR reply. It's a relief to know that someone else experienced those same symptoms as I did. I guess everyone's is different. But I forgot to mention, in my original post, that I did get the sweats real bad, too. Then, 5 minutes later I was freezing and exhausted (after it was mostly done). I was afraid a nervous breakdown would follow, but thank God that was just my anxiety talking. But you're never actually passed out, right? I'm so afraid of that! I was lucky I knew what happened to me from the very first one. Panic attacks run in my family, and my mom knew right away. My doctor ran tests and confirmed it. Thanks for your post, take care! Also, I like your handle, "Taz". ;) Renee

Trish, Thanks for your reply. I really think it was a panic attack. I've had one before, and this one was the same, but worse. I actually was up for about 5 minutes already when it happened. I went through all the tests last time, 10 years ago. Ug, I hate the thought of going through that again. But maybe I will have to. I am already seeing a counselor for problems, I will have to alert her. Funny, I just told her last visit that we need to start working on some tools for me to ease my anxiety when it gets bad...So, thanks for the advice. :) Renee

Hi Renee, I'm so incredibly glad you posted your message! I have had that exact thing happen many many times over the last 9 years. I have had every blood test possible, brain scans etc etc and once the doctors ruled out what they thought it might be, they were then no longer interested. I have never found any doctor or specialist who could tell me what that was. It is the most terrifying experience I have ever had in my life and that is what a majority of my panic stems from. It always seemed to happen at night. My vision would blur, body temperature would go very hot then cold and i'd shake. My ears would ring so loud that I couldn't hear anything and I felt incredibly diorientated. The only thing I can do is lie down on cold tiles until it passes. I also usually feel very sick or get dihorrea at the same time as all this is happening. I have found that I calm myself down through watching my breathing when this happens and make sure I breathe through my nose and don't hyperventilate. Luckily this hasn't happened to me in a little under a year but I still worry about it happening again. I have wondered if it might be an epileptic thing, an old friend of mine who had epilepsy said it sounded like some sort of seizure but I've never gotten that checked out at the doctor so I dont know. I can really feel for you and understand how scared you must have been when this happened, I'm sure its just somehow related to the panic/anxiety disorder thing but I'm really glad you shared your experience because I have never known anyone else to have this happen. :)

Hi Renee, You have come to the right place! Please continue to share your thoughts with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. We are all a group of individuals who support each other. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. Make sure you tell your doctor the exact details of your attack as well. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free". If you have any question or concerns with our €œTOOLS€, you can contact Susanne or me at support@paniccenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. There is a lot on your plate right now, so take it slow, we are hear to support you. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Josie

Hi Renee, Anything that differs from your normal symptoms of a panic attack, I would get checked out by a doctor. It might be orthostatic hypotension, where upon standing the blood pools to your legs, and the adjustment in BP, causes a near faint, or fainting. This is not to be confused with normal low blood pressure, get it checked out to be sure. I had this episode, was stress induced though. Got it checked out. Trish

I wanted to introduce myself, describe the panic attack I had Friday, and ask if anyone has had two particular symptoms I experience that I never see listed anywhere. I am a 36-year old wife and mom of two boys, 13 and 11. We are having marital problems, plus I am dealing with other stresses. I had just woke up at 5 a.m. to use the bathroom, and all of a sudden, all at once, my heart is pounding out of my chest, my pulse is pounding in my brain, I am light-headed, I feel like I'm going to throw up, I am super light-headed and dizzy, I got confused about how to get out of the bathroom and where my own bedroom door was (!), and here's the odd ones: I start to "white out," everything got so white I had sit down because I knew I would faint if I didn't. Other online sites said you never pass out, but then why does everything get fuzzier and whiter until I can't even see? Also, my ears rang so loud it was deafening. Anyone ever experience that? Oh, and best of all, husband won't believe I had a panic attack! (haven't had one in 10 years) Nice, huh? Looking forward to responses, thanks for being here. Renee
