Facing the morning

11 years ago 0 1140 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Oh, and if you are using Nicotine Replacment Therapy, get that gum, lozenge, patch, or whatever going as soon as your eyes pop open the first time. It takes a little longer for nicotine to enter the bloodstream via these routes. You don't want to lose it and go grabbing for cigarettes while waiting for the NRT to kick in.

When I was still using the lozenges. I put one under my tongue after the first alarm, and then turned over and went back to sleep. By the time my "snoozes" had ended, the nicotine was already in my bloodstream. This significantly reduced my early-morning tension in the early days.

I get to sleep in for another 10 minutes, rather than running out to the porch in a jacket and jammies for a smoke. During the early days, I just reminded myself that I didn't need to smoke, since I got some extra sleep instead. ...And I do love that extra sleep.

My Favorites are the same as Reds
The only thing I will add is that I like to take a nice deep breath in when I wake and run my tongue across my teeth
because my mouth is fresh and my chest is not heavy.

Great Question!

Replace old negative habits with new positive habits..
Make a list of positive alternatives to smoking..

My Favorites:

1. Take a long hot shower.

2. Good online with a nice cup of hot coffee.

3.  Post my pledge to Not Smoke today..

4.  Fix a nice breakfast.

5. Go for a early morning walk.

Facing the morning without smoking can be terrifying! After a nights sleeps the nicotine level in the blood stream drops to an all time low and the body wants a boost right away. Avoiding this first cigarette is tough, before you go to sleep, make a list of things you need to avoid in the morning that will make you want to smoke. Place this list where you used to place your cigarettes.

How else do you make facing the morning without smoking easier?
