Let's gather around! Time to begin to prepare for your New Year's quit. Make your event day stick by choosing a day different than New Years, to make it unique and special to you. There are certain things that people just have to talk about, like natural childbirth. Perhaps because it is such a difficult experience that one is proud to have been successful with it or because it is so life-changing. It is a story telling. Humans have a need to story tell. It think it has to do with collective consciousness. Like, ancient, old men collecting under some umbrella tree in the Serengeti telling and re-telling stories whose morals will provide direction and strength to future generations. Like this one - "I had succumbed to tobacco, have fought it and won". I will be heard. I had a gal at work who still smokes tell me I was "inspiring"! How's that for a 2 month reward?!! Whether she quits or not, it's really cool to be able to say to everyone that I quit! And I'm keepin on quitting, too! Thanks for the inspiration you give me, Stickin! While at work this morning, I stopped by to personally congratulate a lady who quit smoking one year ago today; her quit precedes mine by five weeks. We shook hands congratulating each other when two of her cohorts joined in on the celebrations. One of the cohorts replied, I quit 13 years ago and the other replied, I quit 15 years ago. It is remarkable how proud people are knowing that they kicked the habit, and equally remarkable is the mutually respect and comradely among ex-smokers. As they do, we do as well! Sticking to it, And proud they should be! It's not an easy habit to kick however it can be done! Thanks for sharing. You're coming up on your 1 year anniversary soon so start planning your reward. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team
