Hey Ky ... I am on day 4, well actually just passed my 72 hour point. I was going to do patches but they made me sick, and it has NOT been easy. But you can do it. I am near nashville so at least the weather has been great..... Go outside. Take a deep breath, you will feel the effect of smoking. I read that after awhile its like you never smoked at all and you can take a deep and not feel the tightness, not hear the crackle. I can hear it, and I am 27.... Thats crazy. I am so looking forward to that. Thats why I have made it through. You will make it too..... Believe in yourself. Know that you HAVE to want it. -Rachel My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/9/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 65 Amount Saved: $11.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 51 Seconds: 13

Good Morning Ky Women Congratulations on your decision to quit. I too am on Chantix. I can atest that it does help. I was a 1-1/2 pack a day smoker for over 25 years. With the Chantix the cravings are bearable and you can easily push them to the side by distracting yourself. Each person is different and drugs work differently in everone. I wish you the best of luck on your quit. This is the best site for help and advise. Everyone here is very happy to help, so come back often. YOU CAN DO THIS! Believe in yourself! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 247 Amount Saved: $60 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 21 Seconds: 48

KY woman, Congrad's on your decision. I am on Chantix as well. It has been a great help and this quit as much easlier than when I "stopped" before. I took it for 12 days before I quit. It did not stop me from wanting a smoke, it just made the craving less "physical" and gave me time to work on the mental side of this addiction. It is as close to a magic pill as you can get, but you still have to do all the work of a normal quit. I did have a few "tie me down... I am going to the store cravings, but they did not last long". Be prepared, be positive, be smoke free, be happy! Look forward to hearing more from you, rose My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 847 Amount Saved: $157.5 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 21 Mins: 25 Seconds: 28

hey ky - I used Chantix to quit. By the end of your first week, smoking will start to become very unpleasant. You will naturally start to put them down as your quit day draws near. By the 7th day on Chantix, I didn't want to smoke. You'll still go through normal withdrawals associated with nicotine, but they'll let up after your 3rd day. Good luck! -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,151 Amount Saved: $418 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 14 Mins: 59 Seconds: 8

Hi ky - I didn't use Chantix but I've heard good things about it. The only caution I have is that medications and NRT's just help to ease the cravings - I'm not sure that they take them away completely. (I know that I still had cravings on the patch) It's still important to prepare your coping skills (drinking lots of water, going for walks, cinnamon gum, hard candies, straws, gym, naps...whatever works for you) There will be lots of support for you here as you go on your quit journey....and remember to just go one day at a time. Good Luck! I'm a cold turkey quitter so I really can't advise you on other methods. I can tell you that there isn't a magic pill that makes it all go away. Quitting is easy for some and not for others. I am one of the latter. Quitting is doable. You just take one step at a time and adopt N.O.P.E. as your motto. Not One Puff Ever. That is how we all quit. Remember if you are having a hard time, the only way is to get through it and wait for it to pass. Take deep breaths, keep yourself busy and drink a lot of water. You can do this! You will love being a quitter :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 620 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,406 Amount Saved: $2170 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 9
