Anticipating a crave

15 years ago 0 2778 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey PB!!!

That's just about what it was like for me!   The crave would come and I'd just have another sip of beer and say TOO BAD, NIC...  No smoke for you!!!  Sort of like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld!!!  I still giggle to myself thinking about that!!!

      Way to kick ash, buddy!!!

PB you are getting it done.  I think (that is dangerous for me) knowing your triggers and facing them head on is key.  I have found myself in the past listening to them until I could just scream.  For the most part they are gone.  Stinking thinking is alway lurking so I am on guard.  Mental images of killing that demon can be fun, in a sick way LOL.  Whatever works for you keep doing it.

Hi PB,

You've got the right attitude and strategy to beat this! "Stealing the nicodemon's thunder" - that's a very effective and powerful approach.............good for you!

Keep up the great work...............40 days is an astounding accomplishment!

PB, you have it down.  Its funny about habits.  There is some science that it takes about a week for a habit to form.  If only it takes that same amount of time to break the habit!  I guess that is where the evil powers of the nicodemon come in.  He sure does his best to keep our addictions.  But keep doing what you are doing, telling the nicodemon NOPE, watching TV in peace, one day at a time, and eventually that habit is a thing of the past!  Boy do those 39 days look great on you!

Whatever works PB.....That's what we have to do.......
I find myself thinking more about a cig when I'm bored.....like caligirl said......and probly a lot more.  As long as I'm busy I don't even have craves.  Busy mentally and/or physically, doesn't matter.
We just have to beat the addict at his own game.....you're doing it in your way......Great Job!!!

Yes PB
I have noticed that facing the smokings toughts works better for me. I have rehearsed my reaction. So I smile at them and say
poor brain it is an addict. Thank God I quit. The other one is shout NOPE.
Have a great evening!

I'm just curious, I was having some really bad craves in the evenings sitting idle in front of the tv, and yes I'm a professional couch potato. I kept pushing through the craves in the evenings as I would enjoy my favorite tv shows. Then I got to thinking about it, and realized this was a huge trigger for me. So, sitting and actually taking some time to think about the craves, why they were coming, when they were coming, has seemed to lessen the effect the crave has on me because I know its coming. I don't know if everyone has heard the expression, "stealing someones thunder", but this is kind of the strategy I'm employing. I'm stealing the nicodemons thunder, and I like it, it makes things much more bearable.
