Feels like day 1 again

16 years ago 0 1107 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I just went through the same thing this morning. Thank God I had no smokes in the house. When I got up, I was SO wanting a smoke. It did feel like the 1st day. Got past it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that still craved a cigarette almost 3 weeks into the quit. Thanks for helping me remember I'm not alone. Wazz, It's normal to have ups and downs. As you progress in your quit those bad days become more infrequent so keep pushing through. The best is yet to come. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi Wazz, I read you post and it really took me back. I think every ex smoker in the world does this. We have smoked for so long that when we quit we think that after a few weeks it is going to feel like we never smoked at all. For some very lucky people I know this is true, but for the majority of us that will not be the case. Just knowing that up front will make it easier for you to handle. That is what helped me stay quit this time. I became more realistic about how long it would take before it would feel like I never smoked. The cravings can come and go. Just keep telling yourself that no matter what you will not have "that one" and you will be fine, I promise. Just keep in mind that something we have been doing for years will take longer ten a few months to get over. Think about it and it does make sense. Hey Wazz, I think the last couple of days have been like that for me too. It's been tough but I'm thinking that it is probably due to the anxiety before my talk. I'm hoping these feelings will go away once I'm done with it. I've also been feeling extremely irritated today with people. It's made me feel quite sad, because it makes you think that you'll never get over the hump. But don't you worry about it. Better days will come and you'll be thankful you were so strong dealing with all of it. Stay strong buddy! I'll be around if you need to chat. Wazz -- I hit day one again on Day 42 and it was the same sort of feeling, like I had just put down the smokes a short time before. It made me mad and a little depressed. I hope that contentment I had before that day will come back, but one thing it did for me was put me on guard and make me a lot more protective of my quit. I don't know how many more "just like Day One" days we'll have - but now I'll be ready for them and not suprised by that feeling. I'm glad to hear that you have no intention of smoking. Just push through the bad day and maybe tomorrow will be better. At least there's a chance of that. If we smoke, we know for sure that things will never improve. Now today has sucked all day long. My head feels like it did on day 1 and day 2. Tingling lips hot flashes mild headache. I feel like I havent smoked in 3 or 4 hours. Its been 12.5 days. Dam this isnt fair to feel like this. I dont want to smoke nor will I but feeling like this is no easy day. Can I exspect more days like this?
