Being Tested

I did a search, and amazingly, I found it! THIRTEEN days into my quit I was in a car accident! Here's my original post: Had a car accident... Ya know what, that accident HELPED me a LOT. Sometimes when I had a bad crave I would think to myself, "Hey, I had a WRECK and I didn't smoke, why would I smoke today?!" Good going, Lori. You can do this! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 280 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,400 Amount Saved: $840.00 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 20 Mins: 44 Seconds: 32

Hello Lori, Your not wrong, Most People seem to get Tested like within a month after they quit smoking on this website, guess that Man up-stairs is testing Us out to see how much We can withstand, I lost a Brother to a heartattack a month after I quit, and I had to drive 500 miles to the Visitation and the Funeral, If anyone could have used a cigerette, it would had to have been me, but then I said to myself!!! Brother Mike, wouldn't have wanted me to go smoking again because of His passing away, You talk about a motivation, I had one etched in stone then, and my positive attitude just got stronger, Like Someone said, Were All on a Roller Coaster ride in Our lives, You just got to Grit Your Teeth and keep going, Good Luck Lori, You Can Do It, Smokless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1673 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50,190 Amount Saved: $7,160.44 Life Gained: Days: 391 Hrs: 5 Mins: 53 Seconds: 31

Thanks for the support, everybody. It sure feels good to have people come running when you need a hand up. I spent a little time at home and read some Allen Carr about the "illusion" that smoking makes us feel better. Then I decided to go ahead and come to work and get on with the day. Back on the horse, shaking off the darkness and getting back in the game. Cars will get fixed, relationships come and go. Non-smoking people get through this stuff all the time and are able to survive. And if my insurance goes up, then it goes up. Thankfully, I already know how to pay for any possible increase -- all the money that I'm saving by not buying cigarettes!! (not always easy to find the bright side...but I'm workin' on it) Lori My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 90 Amount Saved: $18.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 47 Seconds: 19

Hang in, Lori, you're doing it right. The good news is if you can get through so much difficulty this early in your quit, you know you're strong enough to get through anyyhing that comes along later! Be good to yourself, so whatever makes you feel better & remember to get a reward for doing so well! Lori, You have the right attitude and you already know the truth. Smoking Doesn't Help ANYTHING. No situation is corrected or made better by smoking. Just get through today and tomorrow will take care of itself. I understand your comment about Murphy. I think it is all part of the devil, the addiction, whatever you want to call it, hard at work. They don't want to see you succeed in beating something that controls you. Congratulations on taking your life back and keep it up. Post as often as you need to, read as much as you can about this horrible addiction. It will save your life. Lori, We hope all is ok. Looks like you and your body could use some relaxation time. Take a day off or use the evening to rest and relax yourself with a hot bath, good book, stretches, walking and whatever else you can fit in the evening! Smoking does have a habit of masking issues. So if you feel something is persisting, check with your doctor. Your getting healthier and your routines are changing. You have gained much more time, now that you do not smoke. Use this time to do something for you and focus on the positive. We are here for you and we are glad that you came to us first. Josie, Support Specialist

:( Oooh Lori - so sorry for the trials and tribulations. (((Lori))) Criminy, I think we all should get a free pass from ordinary troubles in the first two weeks of being non-smokers. Being a non-smoker is a full time job in and of itself in the beginning. "But even through the additional stress, I have known that smoking would really not help make anything better. Just going to not smoke today and hope that tomorrow is a little better." Lori, truer words were never spoken - hang on to your quit above all else. And tomorrow WILL be better. Take care of you. Dealing with additional stress today. Since I put down the smokes, I feel like Murphy has been camping out in my world. Had a relationship end during hell week and started heck week by getting into an accident this morning. Thankfully noone was hurt and we are all insured. Shaking after the crash, how natural would it have been for me to light up. Or what a great reason it would have given me to run to the store and buy some. Certainly being in an accident gives me enough of an excuse to smoke, right? But I'm not going to do it. Able to get the car home and I immediately head here to post. I'm so thankful to have this place to come to and know that these thoughts will be read by those who understand. I'm not sure why things have been more difficult since I quit smoking. I guess that's just life. But even through the additional stress, I have known that smoking would really not help make anything better. Just going to not smoke today and hope that tomorrow is a little better.
