A Great Thought to Run With-Pick Your Battle

You rock Rainie. Be proud, be strong, be quit. Keep kicking those voices out of your head space and your life. You're in charge now. My biggest battle was realizing I wanted to quit more than I wanted to smoke. I won by learning how to overcome my fear of the temporary discomfort. NOPE ;) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 112 Amount Saved: $28 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 55 Seconds: 51

Way to tell that junkie off Raine!!! I think you've rounded a corner in your quit and that's awesome! There are many corners to turn in this quit, and I think you've definitely just turned one. Awesome way to look at this. It's a CHOICE! Crave the Quit! Some of you know how I have been posessed by voices in a big battle in my head the last few days. Well, today it dawned on me... I have discovered today that acceptance is a key to this too. You have to either accept that you don't smoke and don't want to or keep wanting to quit...does that make sense? I think those voices were me trying to find a way out of this committment I made. Well listen here you jack a** you need to just keep on keepin on.... I am done, ya hear me! So today I accept that I am a non smoker and I bow before you as a gal with only HER voice in her head and she can scream right back at ya if you want to have a go at it! What has been your biggest battle and how did you win? Thank you all for the encouragement...it really does help. Penguin: What are you doing to input the truth? I like the idea of wiping the slate clean. Are you reading a lot? Pam & Danielle: I was able to turn this corner with the lessons learned by all of you...ok, I helped too but come on you all are my heroes! Pat: My girliefriend, aren't we just proud lil' shipmates? You are overcoming fear and I am learning that I was panicking because my "bad" mind was trying to convince my "good" mind that I was depriving myself of something. NOT Thanks again! Won't be pouncing on me, Phil. If he does he knows he has this guy across the pond to tend with...and he is scared of you! I am finding that if I wallow...it is terrible. If I smile I can keep on keepn' on! Thanks for the advise and if he pounces I will be ready to do battle! Rainie I will say that the voice that wrote the post is speaking the truth. You will have desires to smoke, likely for the rest of your life. We expect that in the future they will be few and far between, and not very threatening - but they will come. And yes, we need to accept that we will have the desires. It's what we do about them, when they come, that is important to staying quit. That's where the voices come in. In my past attempts, I endured the battle of the voices - until I could fight no more, and then cave. What I have learned from my past attempts is that 1) I don't have to listen to them - I can control my thoughts. and 2)Just about any thought I have about smoking right now is a lie - and I just don't entertain the thoughts. MOVE ON QUICKLY!!!!. Screaming out loud does seem to help for some reason. I actually will say to myself - "OK I heard you....NEXT". There it is - accept and move on. What is hard to accept, for me, is that a good part of my thought process are built on Junkie lies. I have decided that I will not feel guilty for that. I wipe the slate clean. What a great opportunity - to start from scratch and input only the truth. You are doing fine Rainie. Believe in yourself.
