Hey everyone, I didn't know where to start this thread so I thought I would put it in the general forum. I have my first cold of the season and yes it stinks but at the same time it feels better now that I have quit smoking. What I mean is that I am coughing but its not from the cold AND cigerrettes. I don't have to run outside (never smoked in apartment) with a fever and coughing my lungs out trying to get my fix and coughing more because of the smoke. Now I can just rest and relax and get better faster without the cig! I think its wonderful! Well just had to share hope that makes sense... Thanks Gonnadoit. I have been watching your meter rise and rise. You are doing an excellent job with your quit! I am feeling a little better this afternoon. Time for a little nap and later a bowl of hot chicken noodle soup. Thanks again for the well wishes N.O.P.E.~ Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 358 Amount Saved: $376.3 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 0 Mins: 9 Seconds: 7

Hi Valic, I had the same thing but there was something else involved for me. When I had a cold as a smoker I smoked more than ever. Guess what? A couple of weeks a go I had the flu and I came into the room, sneezing and coughing and suddenly I thought about smoking. It was a trigger!!!! Of course I didn't smoke but it was funny to realize how our mind works. I got better really quick and I hope you will too. Dutch love.....lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 174 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,354 Amount Saved: 513.3 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 23 Mins: 2 Seconds: 28

Hope you feel better soon. Now that you don't smoke, you should feel better quicker than you did before. :) Sending well wishes and some virtual orange juice/chicken soup your way!

I know what you mean! I know this is going to sound crazy, but I almost can't wait until I get sick. I want to see what is like to have a cold and for it to go away in a week. When I smoked it would take 2-4 weeks for a cold to fully go away. I am really enjoying my improved health. Feel better soon Valic. Hi valic - Take loving care of yourself... Isn't it amazing how a cold can remind us how much healthier we are after we Quit? Take some vitamin C ~ drink plenty of water, friend - and take some ME time... You're doing beautifully...Feel better soon. Valic, It is great to hear that you are finding the positive side of actually being under the weather! Good for you :)! Be sure to get tons of rest and drink lots of fluids. We hope you get better soon. If your cold persist and or is not improving, then we would suggest visiting your health care provider. Get well soon and congratulations on quitting smoking!
