Hi Ashleigh V ! I'm glad we helped you out a bit! Also, this pain is not related to panic ( think). I know many people who have this pain and do not have panic/ anxiety!!! have a great day

Thanks to everyone that replied. My mind is definately eased a lot more now that I know that it is a common symptom of panic/tension.

Hi Ashleigh V! How are u doing? As Jo said, it could be a nerve. But I also experienced the same thing too. Its funny that you posted this today cause i actually experienced it this morning when i was in bed. I used to have this ever since i was a little girl. I remember getting an ultrasound cause i was so scared of it. But, it is just gas. It feels like gas bubbles pushing right up to your ribs (near ur heart). And it hurts when u breath in...right? Ya, thats exactly what happens to me. I never knew what to do to make it go away, so i would panic cause I would have trouble breathing. Anyhow, i know what to do now!!! Basically, since u have gas pushing up there, you need to stretch that area. So you can raise up your hands and just stretch out your chest. If the pain is on ur left side (near heart). Stretch out ur chest back and to the right side.......that way you are giving the left side a nice big stretch. U will find that it will go away after the stretch. Try it and let me know if it goes away. But dont' worry, its nothing serious. Trust me, i have had this almost all the time. Just do some stretches! I hope i have helped!!!!! bye for now!

Ashleigh, Check with your doctor and perhaps some light exercise and stretches can relieve the stress. Try writing the diary and it may be able to pinpoint the areas you need to focus on. Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

Hi Ashleigh, the pain is a nerve as I get the same sometimes and it can wind me its so bad sometimes and hurst to breathe, its just where a nerve catches, probably because we are so tense a lot, I also get al ot of tinglying in my back which is a new thing for me about month ago my back really hurt think it was muscle tension and since then I been getting tinglying most days especially when I feel panicky

Hi Everyone! I was just wondering if anyone else experiences the some of the same side effects as I do. As of late, the left side of my chest, under the breast where the heart sits, it kind of "pains" there and alot on either side of my ribs. It scares me sometimes and throws me right into a panic. I have recently quit smoking, and try to make myself believe that when I breath in (thats when it hurts the most), that the pain is from quitting smoking. But sometimes that doesn't work either. I probably have nothing to worry about because until I started panicing, I never noticed stuff like this before. My chiropractor advised me that when your body hurts, its due to emotional stress and that there is a nerve in the brain that can detect pain and with panic disorder I guess we are just more aware. But again, I was just wondering if anyone else ever feels pains in their bodies that scare them.
