I have been on Lexapro for about 6 weeks now and it seems to really be helping. The first two weeks I had some side effects like nausea and loss of appetite. I still find myself catching anxiety attacks, but I have not had a full blown out panic attack since I started taking the medication. I take a low dosage only 10mg a day. Hope the medication works for your mother.

Yes, I take it every day. They usually start with a low dose because it is a good strong medication. I am actually at 25mg a day and usually the starting dose is 5mg or 10mg. It takes about 5 days to start working. The first few days you feel pretty crazy. Really, it is like your anxiety hits a all time high. After the first few days things level out and I felt good. It works well in general. The one thing i DO LIKE about Lexapro is that it is one of the most safer type of medications that you can take other meds with. There are very few medications that you can NOT take with it and I like not having to worry about that.

I do not personally takes lexapro but my husband does. He likes it. The side effects are not too bad. He was a little dizzy in the beginning and decrease in appetite. He has been on it for a few months and actually, last night he was telling me how he feels so much better on the lexapro. He feels so much better than he did a few months ago. He doesn't get panic attacks but does have GAD. If you have anymore questions, let me know and I will talk to him. Good luck to your Mum.
