I forgot to say I'm like that too, during the day I feel worse for some reason then at night I feel alot better, And that happens everyday for me. I can't tell you why because I don't know myself but if any one else has any idea I'd like to know too. Ruby....... :)

Thanks Debbie, I'll wait until my Mum comes down this week and see what the doctor here has to say. My Mum is a big lady so if the Paxil causes weight gain it would be no good to her. My Mum used to be small built when she was younger, but over the years and having 7 children she now is a big person. She has tried many diets to lose weight but none have worked. The doctor she see's where she lives wants her to go to the Phycriatrist(I think thats how you spell it) But my Mum doesn't want to go. I am trying to get her to see the Phycriatrist because I'd like to know what the Phycriatrist has to say what is wrong with her. It can't do her any harm in seeing a Phycriatrist, well thats what I think anyway, because she at the stage were soon the doctor were she lives will put her in hospital. Thats what the doctor told me on Friday because I spoke to her doctor were she lives over the phone. I just don't think my Mum has what the doctor out there said she has and that is she has pyscotic symtoms, thats why the doctor gave my Mum the Zyprexa, but she hasn't taken it yet. When she comes here this week I'm definately taking her to the doctor here so she can get a second opinion. Thanks again, Ruby...... :)

Ruby, Zyprexa is a very strong drug. Last year my nurse wanted to use "Seroquel" its a "cleaner" drug than the Zyprexa, its an anti-psyc but its prescribed for anxiety and depression, I never used it but it may be better. I hope your Mom is better I am going through my own "breakdown" or as my husband calls it "emotional meltdown" funny late at night like now I am calm normal sane and no anxiety, the days are bad, but when the sun goes down I feel so much better, can anyone explain that? I hope your Mother feels better Ruby, I always swore by Paxil, it helped so much and if it not for the weight gain I would still be on it, if your MOm is not heavy perhaps they could try that. Debbie.

Ruby, here is some info off of web MD about that drug: By Jennifer Warner WebMD Medical News Reviewed By Brunilda Nazario, MD on Friday, February 20, 2004 Feb. 20, 2004 -- Drug manufacturer Eli Lilly and Co. is warning doctors that its drug Zyprexa may increase the risk of death and stroke when used by elderly patients with dementia. Zyprexa is currently approved by the FDA for use in treating schizophrenia and some forms of bipolar disorder. It has not been approved for treating dementia-related mental problems among the elderly. But some doctors have reported using the drug to treat dementia-related mental problems, such as anxiety, delusions, and aggression. A Lilly spokesman says this "off-label" use of the drug may account for up to 2% of all Zyprexa use. Janssen Pharmaceutica, Inc., maker of the schizophrenia drug Risperdal, issued a similar warning in April 2003 about the use of their drug and the increased risk of stroke among elderly people with dementia. ___________________________________________ Personally I think Doctors too often treat the condition and NOT the patient. A pill does not cure everything, but I am not an MD. I would suggest a second visit or check out another Doc and see what he thinks. prayers for you and Mum

Hi Gina, Thanks Gina. The last few weeks has been hard for me. Having to deal with my own problems with my anxiety and know having to worry about my Mum. I have been getting chest pains really bad, but I know it is only because I'm stressed, I have to be strong because my Mum is only getting surport from me and my sister. I ring her 4 to 5 times a day and spend hours on the phone just talking to her, but the things she talks about on the phone is worrying me, she definately is not herself, I'm worried that she will do something to herself, and the stress from that is really taken its toll on me. (if you know what I mean). But I have to give her surport and tell her everyday that everything will be okay, you just have to give yourself time and you will get better. I'm even having chest pains right now just thinking about her and worrying about is she going to get better or not. Thanks for the surport, Ruby......... ;)

Hi Outlaw, Thanks for the info, I was asking because my Mum is going through some kind of breakdown and the doctor said she has psycotic smytoms, so she was prescibed this medication on Friday. She hasn't taken them yet as she wants to get some information on them first. It doesn't sound good from what you wrote. I don't think she has psycotic smytoms myself, I think she is just suffering with depression and anxiety. I think it's just some kind of breakdown she's having. And I think she needs to go to other doctor for a second opinion(excuse my spelling) before she takes zyprexa. Thanks for you help, I really appreciate it, Ruby............. ;)
