anxious all the time

Don't feel bad. The last time I was on lexapro we had worked up to the maximum dosage. Good grief. Now, I am starting back up on it again and starting at 10 mg. I know it will work again, it is just getting through these first few days of adjusting that is so awful.

Yes the Lexapro is working better then any I've taken, however people can react diffently to different meds. I was just bumped up from 20mg to 30mg. Again, not to minimize anyones anxiety in the least but mine were very MAJOR, so the 5 mg may be just right for you! I wish you luck and give it a chance they can take up to 3 weeks for the full effect. And if it doesn't work don't give up, it sometimes takes a few different tries to get it right!!!

I have suffered from severe panic disorder for years now, I have been through so many meds to get to the place I am now, which is for the most part, panic free. I couldn't go to stores or restaurants etc. for a long time, I would shake so bad. I have just been prescribed Gabitril along with the Lexapro I am currently taking. I haven't started it yet but am hoping that will take the final edge off, although I am very excited, I am back to work and no "panic attacks" in 2 months. A lot of things have helped me through this disorder one of which is research and finding sites like this so you know your not alone or just plain going crazy. Only those who have had a panic attack or elevated anxiety can know what it truly feels like. Hang in there, with the right meds and a good therapist to train you in relaxation techniques you WILL be okay !! And know you are not alone!!! ;)

Don't worry, it's not "just you". For the last 2 months I've felt anxious most of the time. On about 3 occasions I've had week-long bouts of anxiety. The good news is, you can get better I haven't yet, but I'm getting there. I've found that exercise helps an awful lot, even if you have to force yourself to do it. The same goes for relaxation techniques, deep breathing and the like. You might also want to check in with your Doctor, both to rule out any physiological cause and, possibly, to consider some medication. I know it's horrible, but you can and will get through this - and be stronger for it. Keep us posted on how you're doing.
