ATIVAN I need lots of opinions

I have taken Ativan and it works well for me. Especially for travel. Once I take it I usually feel calmer in about 20 minutes, and back to my old self in an hour. After I took it the first few times with success, now just knowing that I have it in my purse is all that I need to know and I usually don't even have to take one. After my first series of Panic attacks I finally braved it to go to a friends cottage. I did take an 1 Ativan over the 3 day week-end, but I enjoyed myself, and was so glad I went. Your lucky your friend seems to understand what you're going through and I am sure will be supportive. Enjoy Chicago! If your worried about Ativan's effect take 1/2 a pill at first you may not need the whole pill

I would take one pill about 20 min before the plane leaves and if you find you are ok, then good, if not take more as needed. I understand we need to face our fears, but that doesn€™t mean we can all face everything all at once and are all immediately cured or this site wouldn€™t exist. With or without meds you are still making a positive move by getting on the plane, and right now you need some medication to be able to fly, eventually you won€™t.

YOU CAN'T GIVE ADVICE ON THIS SITE WITHOUT IT BEING TAKEN OFF. BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD TAKE IT IT WORKS WELL. YOU WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THE TRIP JUST HAVING IT AND THINK OF IT LIKE THIS IF WORSE COMES TO WORSE YOU CAN TAKE THE PILL AND YOU WILL MAKE IT THROUGH IT JUST FINE:)

Hi there! :) A few years ago I had a bad panic attack and ever since have been afraid to travel. I haven't been any further than 45 miles from my house in years. I have to make a trip to chicago in a few weeks, a deal I made with my best friend, if she would work on her drinking (which she has) then I would work on my fear of travel. So we have planned a weekend trip to Chicago (a mere 3 hour drive) and I'm freaking out already just thinking about it! I desperately need as many opinions as I can get on this. I am on Prozac 20mg for 8 yrs and my doc gave me a script for Ativan .5 mg to use as needed on my trip (I've never taken it, or if I did it was years ago.) 1. Do I face up and go, or do I tell them it is too scary for me? 2. Does anyone else have the majority of their anxiety related to travel, and what did you do to get over it? 3. Is it true the anticipation of the trip is worse than the trip itself? 4. ATIVAN, what can I expect from it? 5. Do I take it if I get jittery in the car, like I am now? 6. Will it knock me out, or will it take all the 'inside' shakiness and fear away? 7. How long does it last? 8. How long does it take to kick in once taken? I'm hoping I won't have to take it, but i have a feeling I will. I have no idea what to expect. What I'm looking for is a med that will take the fear and jitters away, so I can feel normal. ANYONE who has taken this, your advice and insight on it and how it made you feel will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so so so so much! :) KIE :)
