Hi, as you're in the u.k I thought it might help if I gave you a snapshot of whats available to you. I don't know if you've come across them yet, but has your gp mentioned cpn's to you ? They are community psychiatric nurses, who go out to visit patients, help with medication worries, chat over your problems, suggest different types of therapy, and act as a link between patient and gp. I'm so lucky that I had an excellent one who I owe so much to, as she made such a difference to me. I had depression as well as a panic disorder, and she reviewed my meds, came when I just couldn't cope with what was happening to me, and supported me so much.
There is also Womankind, who are a support network, with local meetings.
In the u.k we also have No Panic, who I would recommend. If you put both of these into Google, it should tell you what services they provide. No Panic is excellent, with a telephone helpline, and one to one counselling. They also have local meetings.
This programme too is excellent, I must admit I used a combination of all of them !!! Why not !!!
Good luck, you can recover from both the depression and panic, honest.

hi i have been prescribed beta-blokers and my heart rate slowed down so much that i was rushed to hospital and kalms havent really worked for me so dont really want to go on any other medication.  i am looking in to rewind therapy but cant really afford it at the mo. i have been to CBT but they finished and i only had 3 sessions so didnt really get the full works, and get over this. i have a book called how to master anxiety which looks really good and obviously doing the 12week panic program. just on the 1st homework so havent got thast far into it yet. but hopefully it will be all good.

Hey Karla,

It does sound like you are depressed to me but I am no expert! I would suggest talking to a health care professional about this. From what I know it is not uncommon for people who suffer from anxiety to get depressed or vice versa. It is definetely worth checking out. Hang in there though, it can get better.

Hello Karla,   Welcome to our wonderful support community. You have reached a great place for advice, support, comfort and information. Please feel free to post as often as you need to.   The feelings you describe do sound like panic disorder and depression. Have you seen a health professional about these concerns?  Are you taking any medications or supplements or receiving any therapy?   Please review the program and the tools available to you. As you work through the sessions you will discover many things about yourself and your thought patterns.   Again, please also do consult a doctor for the symptoms you have described.   Good luck and keep us posted!     Faryal, Health Educator

hi, i think i might have depression aswell as panic disorder, i have all the usual symptoms of panic disorder, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dizziness, dry mouth etc but recently i have started to feel numb, have no feelings about anything or anyone, which is awful you start to think what is the point of life your only going to die soon, and fell your dragging everyone down with you, sometimes even suicidal. i onoly have black and white thoughts, im ugly, everyone hates me. what should i do i cant even really descibe the numb feelings but nothing can excite you anymore.
