I as well have not been able to get a full nights sleep in over a month since my panic and anxiety attacks began. Doctors at first prescribed lorazepam, but due to the addictive nature of the drug I stopped taking it. I soon began to wake up every night around 3 or 4 in the morning and went to the doctor again, concerned that my insomnia was detrimental to my health. They prescribed a .25 dose of alprazolam (Xanax), which at first helped me fall asleep but has seemed to wear off. I am now starting Zoloft and have had persistant nausea for the past 4 or 5 days. Just wondering if anyone else has trouble sleeping on these medications and if anyone has any suggestions to get a full nights sleep! Thanks!

Members, Here are a few more tips... €¢Try to get on a sleep schedule. Go to bed at a regular time each night and get up at a regular time in the morning. Try to not stay up late watching TV and try not to sleep during the day. If you get on a sleep schedule, we guarantee that you€™ll begin to feel better. €¢Try to make the room you sleep in as quiet as possible. Consider ear plugs or a sleep mask. €¢Use your bed only for sleeping. Don€™t lounge around in your bed. If you spend too much time lounging in bed, watching T.V., drinking coffee, or eating, your body will learn that your bed is NOT a place for sleeping. €¢If you can€™t sleep after half an hour in bed don€™t stay in bed trying to sleep. Get up and do some quiet activity. For example, read a book for a half hour and then try going back to bed. If you still can€™t sleep, get up and do something quiet once again. €¢Try to keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature - not too cold and not too hot. €¢Try to get some exercise every day. You€™ll feel better and sleep will come much quicker. €¢Try not to exercise or work hard late in the evening. It could make you feel €˜wired€™. €¢Don€™t drink anything with caffeine or alcohol for 4 hours before you go to bed. €¢Try not to eat a heavy meal in the evening. Don€™t eat just before you go to bed. €¢If you€™re not sleeping at night, avoid naps during the day. €¢Use relaxation techniques. Box breathing may help you relax at bed time. Hope this helps. Following you around today Minnesota ! I have always had sleep problems , no i lie . Only since i had my first child nearly 20 years ago ekkkk . I havnt slept through the night since then . I wake up at least six times a night . Most the time i can get straight back off but have spells of a few weeks at a time where im up most the night . I do have a telly in the room , it only goes on when im panicky or really wide awake . Usually pop a friends disc in because i can just listen to it with my eyes closed and concentrate on what they are saying (seen them so many times i know wjat they are doing anyway lol) . It really does distract me from 'unwanted' thoughts and am usually asleep by the end of the disc .

HI all, i'm having sleeping problems too. I am exhausted, i go to bed and I cant sleep. My previous meds were celexa and my doc said I could have chamomile or sleepy time teas, now i'm on effexor and I'm not sure I can still have the same teas. I will call her tomorrow. Some times i can sleep most of the night, and sometimes i sleep for 2 hours then i wake up, and sleep at about 4:00 am. maybe i go to bed too early? but i've been going to bed at the same time for around 10:00 pm for ages. I dont have a tv in the bedroom, so thats good.
