Disturbing thoughts.......do u get this?

Hi Angel, I suffer from health anxiety but I also have other organic causes for the anxiety/panic. Recently, I suggested to my doctor that I would like to have regular scheduled appointments with him to discuss anything of concern. My doctor thought it was a great idea. I hope this will enable me to build a trusting patient-doctor relationship . Health anxiety is really very troubling and the symptoms experienced are very real and not delusional - this is something whoever is treating us has to understand. We also have to convey to the doctor that when we come to them with a symptom we trust they use their expertise to warn us if our symptoms are serious. So my suggestion Angel is , find a doctor you can trust and be honest and talk to them about all your health concerns. In the meantime don't be too hard on yourself, you just are having a bad day. I had a very bad day a couple of days back and then I read a post from Diva giving advice on some matter and it really helped me reading her advice. Thanks Diva and all you members who keep this support group so active and helpful. Hope I have helped.

Hiya angel Trust me i know challenging those thoughts can be hard but for me that has been the thing that helps the most. I challenge 10 thoughts a day if i have to or the same thought more then once a day if needed. I also do a lot of breathing exercise and i find it helps. The calmer my body is the easier it is for my mind to calm down. I also do a lot of journaling! It helps a great deal. I wish i had betgter stuff to help you out. Hang in there and remember, this too shall pass. -Diva Oh, i also try to focus on thoughts like congratulating myself when i do something good. It helps me feel better about myself and feel more in control.

just try your best to keep calm. Thinking about it makes it worse for me. focusing on a word or something and singing a song or acting silly has helped me. You can and WILL OVER COME THIS. Life will get better. I know its been a long and hard process but who is going to enjoy life more than other people? you will because once you cross over that bridge to complete better health you will do fine and be happier than you could ever have been.

Hi everyone, I really feel a need to post this cause its a major part of my anxiety right now. I have such disturbing thoughts like I have a major health problem that I dont even know about and i'm just gonna colapse and die one day. For example, that i have a heart problem that the doctor did not catch (or that i did not even notice) or cancer, or some disease. I have been hearing so many scary stories like someone died running up the stairs (with no apparent health problem). Or someone had a heart attack and died in their own home. These things are my worst fears and i keep relating them to MY OWN health. I hate this. And i hate doing this to myself. But i cannot seem to control these horrible thoughts. It becomes so frustrating and hard to deal with. I start hating myself for thinking that way and not being able to control it. It doesn't even have to be about my health persay. I think about getting into a car accident and being trapped in the car not being able to breath. Or dying. Or one of my family members dying in a car crash or suddently from something else. Let me tell you, i'm having a reallyyyy hard time challenging these thoughts. They are my worst fears and i'm fearing life because of them. why cant i just ENJOY life and use this precious time to appreciate the wonderful things that God has given me? Why do I have to sit here and live life in FEAR......every step I take i fear....i fear what may happen...alwaysssss. And its so hard. Can anyone here relate to this? Your input would be great. Thanks for your time. :quest:
