Welcome to the forums. I too tried all the methods out there to control my drinking but
invariably it ended up with a worse binge. End of the drinking career, I
had turned into another daily drinker, and blackout drink during
weekends and holidays. The yets were still looming. Fortunately, like
you I came to the realization that I had to change. Thats when my shrink
recommended AA. The 12 steps and the fellowship has given me a new
life. This will be my 12 years without any mind altering substance in my
body. I encourage you to read the book Alcoholics Anonymous, though
written back in 1939 it is still pertinent. I would suggest you read
chapter More about alcoholism and There is a solution and Bill Story. It
will give you a glimpse of the problem and what we need to do to
recover.
