I've become more and more aware of it and have tried multiple times to stop / slow down.
I couldn't either. Entering the fellowship of AA, reading the book Alcoholics Anonymous, came to realize, I am an alcoholic and that means I cannot keep away from drinking unless I seek a spiritual solution. This is a powerful baffling cunning disease, I need a power greater than myself to tame this disease.
I'm in the same boat. I'm 32 and have been drinking for the wrong reasons since I was about 15. I just joined here this week, as one of the ongoing missing pieces to my making real progress seems to be a lack of anybody to talk to. It's already filling a gap. There is a solid base of people here whose posts I've read, and who have made me feel right at home.
Good for you for recognizing your struggle and doing something about it. You are already making progress! You have definitely come to the right site, you will find a lot of support here.
My suggestion, read the current and past post and realize that you are not alone. Post your questions, thoughts, and feelings. Someone will respond with some thoughtful encouragement and suggestions.
Brand new to this site. I've had a drinking problem for years. In the past year, I've become more and more aware of it and have tried multiple times to stop / slow down. I don't know what my goals are yet. I'm just so very tired of my issue with alcohol. I've never reached out to a support forum before and I'm hoping that this may help me on this "journey".
