I made the initial decision to stop drinking because I just couldn't do it any more. I was on an alcoholic / workaholic cycle, that I new was slowly killing me.
What keeps me going now, is how much better my life is becoming. I'm doing some freelance work, I'm going back to school in Jan., to finish a post graduate specialization in forensic accounting, that I'm hoping will let me get back into the work force. And I just like myself a whole lot more.
Its under the tab under our names. You see the section where AHC includes post counts, Date joined and right below it is the "My Blog: Click to View" link.
What made you chose this path? What keeps you pushing forward? How are you able to keep this momentum? What helped you make this choice?
I reached a spot, where in my innermost self, realized that I can't continue like this anymore. Then I sought help. Some people call this a surrendered state. I became more receptive to ideas, which lead to Alcoholics Anonymous. After initial struggle, I was led to some great speakers and workshops (that i have on my blog) that directed me in the right direction. Today its about helping another and seeing the light shining in the other. Recently I worked with a person who is a wonderful person, passionate about the things he did. The moment he recovered, he started looking for ways to help others. He has a web-site today to help athletes in recovery (trirecovery.org). And recently I had the opportunity to help a blind man in South Africa. Then I saw an email from him (I need to learn more about how he does that lol) that after hearing 20 minutes of the workshop he got hope this time, that he can stick it. These are the little things that keeps me going today. I tell my friends, you are just a click away from helping another alkie in this age of our time.
Sometimes it takes the opinion or view of another to clarify your reasons and make sense of it all. The important concept is that you are working towards a healthier and happier lifestyle.
Take the time to refocus on your motivation. What made you chose this path? What keeps you pushing forward? How are you able to keep this momentum? What helped you make this choice?
By sharing, you may have just helped another find the motivation they were looking for and this makes it all worthwhile.
