Magenta Dahlia, you write so eloquently and honestly about the mysterious allure of alcohol, how it seduces us into thinking we need it and can't live without it, and then abandons us to sickness and pain.  And then comes back again, tricking us into remembering how happy we were in the beginning, promising even more happiness, than abandoning us all over again.  It's an endless downward spiral.  Guilt and hope.  I'm glad you have hope.  You should.  Welcome to our forum.  We're here to help.

Hi Magenta Dahlia,

Thank you for your honesty. Many members here speak of the guilt they have to address while facing their addiction. Guilt can be quite a barrier when overcoming addiction.

From what I have read it sounds like you are not yet ready to tackle this. How will you know when you are ready? What would have to happen for you to become ready?  What do you want to do?

i feel very free.  free to indulge and engage in drinking just because it is my last time.  right?  or few times.
i have it calculated out: i can have two more drinks now b/c i have two more hours before work.   i even bought singles servings of a very moderately disgusting overpriced Moscato at one of the stores through which i rotate so i appear less alcoholic.
i absolve myself of yesterday's Blackout.... of unproductive awakeness and physical hangover at 2am.... because i didn't text anyone too damagingly, didn't call anyone or show the world of facebook i was impaired.  i am remorseful.  i am full of guilt and hope.  i am loved and i have chosen a date. in the future.  probably february 1st. at which i start over.
i made this promise to myself on september 2x... to start october first. my ex-fiance/lover/babydaddy said. "what are you doing to do to achieve this?"

well here i am 4 months later and single servings and a blog seem like a convenient start. a more approachable secret
