hey Ashley, thanks for the support and you are right. so far no smokes and i will keep it that way. keeping myself busy seems to work. i think i am going to be alright as i keep reminding myself that i don't need the feed the monkey on my back. take it day by day. my kids smoke so that sucks when they come by but i can resist the want when they are here. never have smoked in the house so that is a help. thanks again.
Congrats on how far you have already come! Quitting smoking can take quite a few tries and slips are common. Smoking one cigarette here and there can make it really difficult to maintain a quit though, each time you have a cigarette you are reinforcing the behavioural and physical addiction. If you find that cravings are too much to handle cold turkey your best bet is using an Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) like the gum or patch. Try to avoid having cigerettes to quell cravings.
How are you doing today? What are some challenges you are facing?
hey all, new plan here. thanksgiving is easy to remember so i have decided to fight the need for that smoke every now and then no matter how much that i think that i need it. i have come this far so i need to progress farther ahead and fight that urge that keeps nagging me. so good luck to me and i will see how i do on this. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone.
hey all, just joined, so i have made an attempt sep,29 2014 not to smoke. have done ok so far since i am going cold turkey. ok i have had a smoke now and again when i seem to feel the pressure. from what i have read this can happen and not to beat myself up over it. no excuses i still feel the need for a smoke. this is my 4th or so attempt to stop and i hope this will be it. i know that the slippage is not good but it has kept me from buying a pack of smokes, still not an excuse. at the moment i am not working as i do need a full hip replacement so along with that is the boarder line blood pressure issue also. yeah i need to stop smoking. hopefully as time passes i will no longer find that i need that smoke to get by. i am like most people that are my age of 57 over weight and not the best in health so the not smoking would be a good thing. i do go weeks at a time without smoking so i know i can do this. Lord willing i will make it this time and become a full non smoker. thanks for the space.
