Congratulations on hanging in there, DonnaK! As of now, it looks like you've got 46 days under your belt. At 50 days, we like to say you are cruising, and you get to come up with all the fun stuff that you are doing on your imaginary cruise.
I have mixed feelings about the gym, as well. I generally hate my workout when I start, kind of accept it by the middle, and then really love the feeling I get when I'm done. It has also taken my a couple of years to get to the level of fitness I'm at. When I first started, my cardiovascular system was a lot weaker than it is now. I also still have lots of room to improve, even now.
...But the overall fitness routine has kind of become my new addiction. And knowing how intensely I'm able to work out and how good it can make me feel really helps me to stay away from the smokes. I can't imagine getting a decent workout at all with smoke and carbon monoxide running through my veins. In fact, it blows me away that I was able to do any exercise at all as a smoker. At one point about 10 years ago, I rode my bike 5 miles home from work every day as a smoker, and now I have no idea how that was possible. Just the thought of trying to do exercise with all that junk in my system sounds so nasty and difficult. I must have been one crazy, stubborn woman to keep on smoking while I did that, huh?
