I joined this site on Jan 5, 2011 just three hours before I heard the news that my Dad had passed away. I resolved to come out of my 'smoking closet' and made a promise to my Dad that day that I would quit forever! It took me a few weeks to get it right - I had to drive NOT ONE PUFF . . . EVER! into my head and heart and make that realization STICK before I managed to kick the habit altogether. So I picked Groundhog day as my quit smoking Anniversary.
It's an easy Anniversary date to remember and goes like this: "If the Groundhog sees his shadow - I will NOT smoke . . . . and if the Groundhog doesn't see his shadow - I will NOT smoke!"
It's working so far! I'm proud to say I've had Not One Puff Since!
