Hey Everyone!
Welcome to the SSC!!! I couldn't believe it when I saw that there are over 500 of you checking this place out! I wanted to introduce myself and share a bit with you in hopes of encouraging you to join and participate in the quitting process! Thanks to all of the new quit buddies I met here over 4 years ago, I was able to quit an addiction I developed in my early teens! Yes, the Chantix I took also helped, but it was mainly due to the support from all the previous quitters around at the time that helped me the most in overcoming my nicotine addiction!!!
This place was different back then... more "newbies" would log in on a daily basis to share their smoking story and ask questions and ask for support on their journey. The response from all the veteran quitters here was awesome!!! There were posts on just about every forum topic on a daily basis from both newbies and veterans alike! It was a real community of quitters helping quitters, getting to know each other an eventually develop lasting relationships, as we all have that one thing in common... quitting!
I don't know why it has changed, but I just wanted to let you know that there are a LOT of veterans still viewing the forum pages, ready to offer their words of advice and support! I felt it was so important to be able to talk about quitting with others who had gone through the quit process before me! I feel that without this place and the assistance I received from all of my new quit buddies here, I would not have been able to kick that nico-demon's ash!!! That's why I'm trying to pay it forward... I believe that this place actually saved my life!
So, please feel welcome and free to introduce yourselves, share your story, your fears, your hopes and dreams! I'm telling you that this really helps in becoming a successful quitter! We all hope to hear from all of you... all 500+ of you!!! It's much easier to go through this process with a quit buddy!
