Hi Lissie. Ask yourself, "If not now, then when?" When will it be easier?  It will get easier as the days pass. Recovering from addiction seems like a lonely process, because oftentimes it's us versus that addict, especially early on. However, as you show that addict that it cannot win it gets tired of the fight. The cravings will get farther and farther apart and easier to ignore. We just have to remember that once an addict always one and not get tempted to test the waters. You might want to add fresh veggies, sugar-free candy and gum to your arsenal. Cold water speeds up metabolism and helps flush out toxins also. Let us help you celebrate your milestones. Look toward the upper right hand side of the page. By far, your first smoke-free week is the most difficult. Our Support Group members call the first week of quitting “hell week” because that’s when withdrawal symptoms are their strongest.

As a smoker, you’ve spent a large part of your waking hours feeding your body nicotine, so when you stop the feeding, your body craves what it misses. During your first smoke-free week your withdrawal symptoms (and cravings) may, at times, seem almost unbearable.

However it’s extremely important for you to realize that these symptoms do, and will, taper off.
 
Sounds like you are keeping sight of why you quit in the first place.  These are amongst the most powerful motivators so keep hold of them.

As I sit here stuffing hershey kisses in my mouth for the past 2 1/2 days I wondered how strong can I remain and for how long...I was Dx'd with emphysema 2 1/2 years ago said it was mild to moderate and I needed to quit smoking, we'll I thought maybe it was a mistake or something, like how could I get some disease that older people get and mine must not be so bad I have to quit already, this addiction has been talking to me for the past 2 years telling me I'm fine and I won't get worse. I know I will die if I don't stop and it won't be nice I'm 31 my youngest child is 2 1/2  I really hope I can live a normal amount of years and its not too late. Thats my biggest fear these cravings are very hard for me I have compulsive thoughts saying I need a smoke I need a smoke like every 5 minutes , I guess I'd say I'm doing okay its been since Friday night around 11 pm and haven't had any nicotine.
