Hi Rock,

Thank you for sharing this with us. It sounds like you definitely had quite the stressful day! Good on ya for managing your stress effectively! You must be very proud of the way you dealt with your struggles, knowing that smoking would not fix anything!

Keep working hard and post often!

So last night they found a bomb in a car in Times Square.  A horrible thunderstorm woke me up at 4:30 am.  My mom called me at 7 am this morning and warned me about NYC bombs.  My flight to NYC at 11:35 this morning was cancelled.  My new flight 3 hours later was 30 minutes delayed.  My luggage took 45 minutes to get off the plane.  The taxi driver didn't want to take my credit card.  My hotel room in Times Square wasn't ready when I arrived.  Dinner was horrible (I think I found the absolute WORST Italian restaurant in NYC).  620+ days ago I probably would have smoke 2 packs of cigarettes to deal with all of this.  But you know what?  Smoking back then, and smoking now, wouldn't have fixed any of these travel issues or would have made things any better!  The good folks here at the SSC have taught me how to deal with all that life throws my way (yeah, crazy day for a 1.5 hour flight that took 6+ hours!!!), do it stress free, and do it smoke free!  But I arrived in NYC safe and sound.  and I found a Nuts 4 Nuts at 47th and Broadway and rewarded myself with a $2 bag of almonds!  While my troubles today weren't that dramatic in the big scheme of things, I could have smoked.  I would have smoked two years ago!   But I didn't.  I knew that smoking wouldn't have fixed anything that life through my way.

So for anybody out there struggling with the stresses life throws your way.  Take a step back. Take a deep breath.  Look at your quit meter and see your smoke free success!   And ask yourself will smoking fix anything?  I'm going to guess the answer is NO!!!  I wish everybody a smoke free night!

My Mileage:

My Quit Date: 8/20/2008
Smoke-Free Days: 620
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 24,800
Amount Saved: $6,200.00
Life Gained:
Days: 95 Hrs: 12 Mins: 23 Seconds: 49
