How often do you have COUCH night?

20 years ago 0 10 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi, yes I have to sleep alone in my bedroom and my husband sleeps in another bedroom. My bedroom is my safe place and I feel calmer when I am alone.Plus I wakeup so often from nightsweats! I don't do good on the couch because it is not my safe place. Do any of you suffer from nightsweats? Carleen

I haven't been here in awhile because my panic has been mostly under control and I've been so busy with other things but I had to chime in here. I start off sleeping in my bed. Most nights I end up sleeping in our 3 year old's bed because our 5 year old will crawl into bed with us, and snore. Then I can't sleep so I sleep with the 3 year old (she has a double bed but that's another story). Anyway, if I wake in the night with an attack, I will usually sleep on the couch the rest of the night. My hubby is very understanding. It is so strange that the couch helps. But for me, I think it is because my night panic attacks started shortly after my dh had to go to the ER in the middle of the night from complications from a surgery. I think my mind associates that with our bed or our old bedroom. We moved a few months ago and I haven't had to sleep on the couch since. (Although I think the Clonazapem helps with that too.)

I always start out in bed, but usually a couple nites a week i'll wake up in the middle of the night (especially if I've had a stressful day), feel uncomfortable and move to the couch. I don't know what the difference is, but generally I fall right back asleep! My wife doesn't mind, as long as she knows I'm not ill.

Good to read other peoples stories. I sleep in the bed, it was my husband who went sleeping on the couch. This had nothing to do with my panic attacks, it was he who was probably very depressed at the time. I did not understand and felt grieved and rejected at first. But now I prefer to sleep alone very often. When I am anxious or in panic I do not like to have someone close to me.

Hi guys, Me too I love my couch I find it cozy and comfortable safe why I think it feels like the couch hugs ya back...lol. I can watch T.V for distraction if my mind is racing that works for me. Husband doesn't mind so it'a all good. Nice to know though that it seems like a lot of do use the couch. Hugs Tita
