Hi SerenityNow,
This is a fine time to quit. If you really want to do this you will.

I quit the third of December not thinking really about the christmas season. My advice for you is to prepare as much as you can before hand. Think ahead to the tempting triggering situations and plan what you will do in those situations. For me I cut cigarette size straws and would suck on those and it helped me with that part of it, especially when I am around smokers. Think of it as breathing in fresh air to nasty chemicals. I also bought alot of healthy snacks like celery and fruit and would snack on that. Have water close by as well. In the end it is up to you. But don't wait too long before setting a quit date. I played around a bit with my quit date and in the end I moved it up a bit. Go through the program. Another thing that helped me as well was planning my rewards at the beginning I think it is important to reward yourself for every little day and week you get through! That is what I am doing and it makes me feel proud of myself alot. Post on here often as well, read and research not only on here but on different websites. I also like reading other peoples quit success stories.it makes me feel that it is entirely possible.

Welcome! When it comes to quitting, any day is as good as any other. Addicts always have excuses for their behavior. If you feel like a non-smoker, good. Now all you have to do is act as if you are one. Act as if until you feel you have it down pat.

Hi everyone,

I have read some of your posts and lurked around the site and decided to join. I have decided to quit smoking today, had been thinking about it for quite some time. I feel ready and confident that this is my time to quit. I am a little bit nervous that I decided to do this a few days before xmas. Most of my extended family smoke and it will be a bit of a tempting time. I just felt the need to quit today. As I said I was flirting with the idea for the past few months, but I woke up this morning feeling like a non-smoker and refusing to be characterized as a smoker anymore. I hope that this is the time for me and feel that with some support and lots of gusto I can do this. Please, any tips or suggestions would be really appreciated. Also, have I chosen the wrong time to do this?
