I love getting high fives from doctors instead of lectures!!! Saw my oncologist a little bit ago. After drawing what seemed like 10 gallons of blood, my white blood cell count is perfect, every other count is perfect, no blood clots, no cysts, no tumors! WOOHOO!!!! She was so excited when I told her today is 390 smoke free days! She is the one who finally convinced me that life was good and that I needed to quit smoking ASAP. That was August 18, 2008. 392 days ago! Do I smoke, or do I stay on coumadin/blood thinners the rest of my life, get blood tests and scans every week for the rest of my life, and see her every 2 weeks, the rest of my life? It took me 2 days to decide as I had 4 packs of smokes left and I couldn't throw any away! How sad is that? LOL! Today she told me to come back in 5 years unless something else comes up. I think I'll go back every year on this date and take her to lunch! :)
I wish my other half gets good news tonight. He is 4/10 sessions of radiation down. Today he'll be half way through (5/10). Then he is off for 2 weeks, then they do another 10 sessions. I hope his oncologist can tell him that the radiation is working and he can quit radiation soon!!!
