Kristilu, welcome! Don't be afraid of failure. Each of those attempts are a learning experience in disguise. Look at my join date. Now look at the number of days I have. In all honesty, I had an earlier join date. I spent a few weeks on this site during the summer of  2006. I'm not embarrassed, although when I've decided  to smoke I did so in peace. One day at a time I will not smoke again.

You go, girl.  Set your mind to it.  Stay focused and determined.  Surround yourself with support.  Get mad at the nasty habit and, as you say, TAKE CONTROL.  You can do this!!!!  Your commitment will make this happen!!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Welcome back my friend. I know you can do this Kristilu. Sounds like you have a good plan. How about setting a goal to enter nursing school as a non smoker? You will have six months under your belt by then. There are no tricks, you have to make the decision, the committment and then set your plan in motion. Plan ahead for stressful times. Follow your patch plan to the T, it will be so worth it.
I am so glad you decided to try again, take these few days to read up here about what that demon nicotine is doing to your body, go through the program again and prepare to have an awesome quit! Once you are determined, there will be no stopping you!

Kristilu, take your time as your prepare to quit.  Preparation is key to success, and as Jim taught me, you gotta be prepared!  Read, read, and read as much as you can!  Use the search feature to look up topics affecting your life.  Have you put together a reward system to celebrate your successes?  Have you put together a crave cart (thanks to Miss Marple!!!) of carrot sticks, celery, straws, iced, water, altoids, etc?  We're all here rooting for your success!

Hi Kristilu,

Welcome back and just like before we are here for you! Let it just be known that you are not the first person to return and make another attempt at quitting, and you sure won't be the last. Like you said you "need" to beat this addiction, and you will this time! Take all the reasons why you want to quit, write them down and tape them in various spots around your house or work. You take the control back, fight the fight and we will be here to be the extra push you might need.

We are glad to have you back,  check back in soon!

Have you reflected on the reasons why you've gone back to smoking in the past?

Members, any tips on how to bounce back from a slip?
