Getting weak as time goes by

14 years ago 0 363 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0

I have to say thanks to all of you, your words are very inspiring. I am still smoke free and doing better today. I think MissMarple hit it on the head, it felt almost like I had permission to slip since my buddy at work did, that it was ok, that I could quit again in a day or so. I guess it goes to show you how sly the junkie can be sometimes, finding any reason or excuse to smoke. Maybe a night at the Hollywood Casino is in order, poker, pretty ladies, taking peoples money, its all fun and good. I say it but I won't do it, I've been holed up in this apartment all summer trying to save money for the house I'm trying to buy, and the bank still hasn't said a word to me. You would think 120 days is long enough to decide if they want to accept my offer or not. Maybe this is my source of stress, waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Everytime my phone rings thinking this it the call, everytime I get an email thinking this is it. And yet, here I am still waiting. It is driving me insane!! I have lost a lot of sleep over this. I know its the house I want, and can afford on my income, but I'm not sure how much longer I can wait, I just want out of this apartment and into a nice place. Also with the deadline coming up for the tax credit for new home buyers, I don't want to lose out on that either.  Its all so screwed up, never ever try to buy a short sale, it is a joke. OK, I feel a little better now. I am smoke free for another day, another victory in the books. Thanks again everyone....and if just by chance anyone works in a loss mitigation department, we need to talk....LOL   Again..thank you for all your concern.

You are not weak!! You are a quitter and I would really like to see you stay that way.  PB it is not worth the hell to have that cigarette.  Stay smoke free, I need you here and so do a lot of others.  When I look at you stats, I think that could have been me, but no.  I choose to smoke again and I am telling you it is better to go through the stinking thinking and what I am going through now.  Start thinking positive and kick that stinking thinking to the curb.  YOU ARE WINNING, YOU ARE A WINNER.  To smoke you stink, you will cough, you will beat yourself up, you feel shame, it is expensive, need I go on.  You are so worth the quit.  Just do it!!

(((Big hug to PB)))
When your friend fell off of the wagon, it kinda plays mind games with you.  Almost like permission to slip yourself.  Don't do it.  It' simply not worth it.  You're going through a rough patch right now.  Just keep your chin and your resolve up.  Review your reasons for quitting.  And, mostly, be kind to PB!

Hey PB!!!

I might be a bit biased, but I agree with Rock!!!  If you can get to see the Chihuly glass exhibit for free,  DO  IT!!!!!  It's awesome, will provide a needed distraction and you'll get a little culture!    The best thing, it's F R E E !!!  Don't miss it!

Keep those rewards coming, buddy!  They will definitely help get you through the blahs!!!

PB,

You've gotten some great advice and support from your fellow quitters. You can do this!
Review the reasons for your quit, and think about all of the amazing benefits you have experienced since your quit.
Please vent away, that's what we're here for
Stay strong and stay close.
You can and will remain smoke free!!

Hi PB
I don't post often at all because I can't get my quit back................ but when I saw your post I had to post and put myself up as an example................. throw that stinking thinking right out the window you have come soooooooooooooo far and succeded!!! That just one cigarette will throw away all that you have accomplished because just one will never be enough, I swear to you it's not worth it, remember the cough, the wheezing, how nasty they taste the majority of the time, It all comes right back just after a few cigarettes, you don't miss those things do you? I didn't think so ....... think of me when that stinking thinking comes and how bad you dont want to be me.

Hey PB I can relate to what you're going through lately. It's so easy to get worn down. I'm never far from here lately. If I'm not logged in I'm reading posts. The site and the people here have helped immensely lately just by being here. Rock has got the right idea with places to go to and things to do. Sounds like it might be time for PB's day. That's when you reward yourself by having a fun day for you. It doesn't have to cost alot or even anything. I think tomorrow I might walk along the beach and see if I can find any sand dollars. They're hard to find but by spending some time looking they can be found. I can't tell anybody else what to do but if I'm having a hard time then it's time to get back to basics , to what works. Better days ahead.  breather

PB, I would rather than you vent here then smoke.  You are right.  Each person's quit is their own.  For me personally, I like your quit.  0 smokes in 145 days.  Are you taking care of yourself?  Are you rewarding yourself?  Simple things.   Go to the Museum of Art to see the Chihuly Display (free in August).  Take a walk at Antrim Park, or Goodale Park, or any other park.  Get a ticket to a Clipper's game at the new Huntington Park.  Dinner and movie tickets at the Movie Theater at Bethel and Sawmill.  Head down to Berliner Park and watch the softball leagues.  Park at the Golf Course on Hamilton Road across from the airport and watch planes land and take off.  I travel almost non-stop for work, and on the weekends when I am home I just want to do simple things.  Maybe things like this will help you relieve stress and take your mind off smoking!  Wishing you well buddy!  N.O.P.E.
