Wow! watching you quit is fun. love all your humor. It gets better as you go and attitude plays a big part. Your Mom is not going to smoke around you. You may set an example for her to follow. That happened to me. My daughter quit first.

Hi there CTLS welcome.. you have found a whole new set of friends....
It will take about 4 days to get the nicotine out of your system... so drink a lot of water, to help flush out the nicotie and toxins. Also it takes about 21 days to "change" a habit. So if you lit a smoke while waiting for the coffee to drip, maybe set it to be ready (with a timer) so when you get up it is done... and you can wake up and smell the coffee...lol
If you set in a certain chair when you smoked.. change chairs or spots. Have your "tools" and rewards handy....be ready to distract yourself, by a crosword puzzle, reading a chapter in a book... a puzzle coming here and posting and reading..
Be prepared for the weekend.. and join the qit train we're going to Wisconsin for the weekend...
Bonnie

Cold Turkey is ROUGH!!! Been there and didn't do it!!! I heard about Chantix and tried it and I did it and I'll never look back!!! It really can be done without an NRT, but you have to be 100% committed and have a Positive Mental Attitude!!! Committment, PMA and the support of your new best friends here is what will get you through!!! I was on here almost continuously for the first few weeks reading and posting and reading some more!! If you do get one of those seemingly unresistable cravings, get on here and post HELP!!!! Wait for 5 replies and by then your craving will be gone!!!!
You can do this... post when you need us!!!! We're here for ya!!!

Slips happen, don't get too down on yourself. Learn from your mistake. Be sure to re-evaluate your coping mechanisms to better be prepared for difficult moments. Try to avoid triggers and with a little determination, you'll be months into your quit in no time.
