I Quit,

Transitioning off the patch can be scary and unpredictable. This can be a very common fear among patch users. The best defense is to plan it out. Some quitters do experience a few days of adjustment with mild withdrawals and increased cravings. With a few coping strategies and distractions you'll make it through! Start to plan out what strategies you will have in place and what you have found helpful in your quit thus far.

Thanks for your comments, if I can keep reading stuff like this it helps me, I am chewing gum like a fiend and I will talk to the walmart pharmacist. I know there will be a transition but it seems the step 3 to nothing is going to be harder then the step 1 to 2. Maybe I just need some nice warm weather to pick up my spirits. I'll check back in a while to let you know how it has been.

I Quit,

Congratulations on your 9th week. Yes, even with the patch, there ARE moments!!!!! I used the store brand patch as well...along with Zyban. I don't know if you're in the States or Canada, but I used the Canadian store brand patches from Walmart, Zellers, Superstore, etc. They're all the same supplier. I used them for the required 12 weeks and then used the 7 mg. for an extra 2 weeks, for 14 weeks in total. The extra 2 weeks didn't do me any harm and in the long run kept me from smoking during those crucial few months. Don't give them up too soon!

Like Bob said you don't want to give up 59 days, that is awesome. Look at my stats, that is what you will get if you give up now, a start over. I have used about everything out there to quit and what has always worked the best is cold turkey. I am on day three and by this time tomorrow the nicotine should be out of my system. That being said I still have to deal with life on life's terms without smoking. I will be focus on change. Join the rest of us and we will hold your hand until you get though this. In fact here is mine, let's get you to 60 days.

Don't give up 59 days!!!!!

You'll just want to Quit again and have to go through it all over.......Stay busy........keep your mind occupied.......Come here and post and then wait for 5 replies.

caligirl was worried about the end of her patches too....when it happened she found she didn't need them anymore.

The addict in you is making you feel you need it......and you know you don't........the physical need is long gone.

Be stronger than your addict.......Fight it now and it gets a lot easier to beat every time.

I went cold turkey, so I'm not sure about the patch. Mods, any advice? Iquit, do you have a physician or a pharmacist you cal talk to? Ask the pharmacist at Walmart, they should be able to give you advice about the Nicoderm. Runtrat gave you some good advice too! Drive tons of iced water, stay close to this site! Sending you happy wishes that you can do this. N.O.P.E.

I don't know about the patch thing.Withdrawals and cravings are the worst.. You need to do some reading.. I find if you doubt yourself it hard to talk yourself out of anything..Drink some ice water,take a long walk, then take a hot shower,and chewing on a coffee straw helps a lot.. NO MORE NEGATIVE THINKING... listen to my quit video..Good Luck.. Don't let the killer butts win !!!

I am into my 9th week, messed up on the patch so I am on it a week longer than I should be. Thought it was 10 weeks instead on 8, anyway, on my second week of step 3. I am using a Walmart version of Nicoderm, they are much cheaper and dont give me such awful side effects. I am REALLY CRAVING smokes these days. I am frustrated, *****y, and short tempered. I tried to not use the patch yesterday and my husband forced me to put one on so I did and I still have it. My very last patch is wednesday and I feel like I am going to fail and dont want to. Everything tells me I cant be on the patch longer than 8 weeks but I am afraid to be without it. Help! its been too long to go back now.
