Symptom or Craving

15 years ago 0 51 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Yes breather I sort of did that the best I could.  The box is a good idea.

Sparky I'll try to get some of that carpet fresh soon as I can.

I got off the lozenges and boy the craves hit hard last night.  I figured that I was probably just prolonging it by feeding the nicodemon.  So now I just figure with every crave it is starving that little monster.  So he should be getting weaker each time.

Jay, I used carpet fresh for pets, it is a quick drying foam and it helped get the smell out of the car.  Give it a try.

Hello Jay Early on in my quit I made up a call it what you want box but I had a "crave box". It was a small metal box that held things that I might " need " in the event of a crave. Mine was small enough to carry in my pocket and held things like candy , mints , lozenges , etc. I thought of this as a toolbox to stop smoking. I'm sure you carry even the minimum of tools in case the truck breaks down. The box can carry everything you need in the event of a craving or a breakdown. I bought patches just in case I "needed " one , thought it better than starting back smoking. I got this idea from Miss Marples " crave cart ". Anyway , it can be a box , bag or anything else. And as far as what's in it is up to the individual. Even the time spent deciding what to carry in it takes a lot of time and thought = distraction. I haven't had to use the patch but I'd rather have gone on it than smoke. Anyway it helped to just get what I needed if I was craving. breather 66 Addict 0

Hi Jay.....

I think you are right.  It is about changing the way we think.  Not an easy task but it is do-able.  For now just take it a day at a time.  Those numbers will add up fast.  Congrats!!!!!!  You are on the road.

No real problem today kept thinking the demon was going to sneak up anytime but just a few minor glitches while driving times I would normally reach for them in my pocket but just kept telling myself don't need them they won't help nasty things anyway.  Seem to really work.  I have been using the lozenges though.  Now I'm starting to think it's preperation and changing the way we think may make it easier.

Course there were none in the pocket..  This place is awesome  I have tried the patch before and failed,  I tried the lozenges before and failed.  I know now from what I have learned from all of you is I am going to make it this time.  THANKS!!!!!!

I cleaned my truck 3 times now and while talking to my wife today I said man nothing seems to get this smell out have tried everything.  She said you must be doing pretty good your smell is coming back already she told me when her sons and I smoked in the garage or basement she could smell it for a week after.  When she quit I stopped doing it in the house.

Now I can stop it everywhere.  May just be a lull but I know I can do this now.

Way to kick ash and haul out the trash today!!!!
Can you hear the crowd cheering and the whistling, clapping, ohhing and ahhhing???  Seriously, take a long bow for a job well done.

There's nothing corny about beating the tar out of nicotine, and that's for sure.  Stay positive, keep your crave busters handy at all times and you'll fly through hell week!  Tomorrow is round 2 and it may not be pretty like it was today, but it's another opportunity for you to gain even more power over the cravings.  Soon, you'll notice it starting to get better.

Check out your meter...you've already gained 4 hours, 15 minutes and 30 seconds of life back from this horrible addiction!

PS...I think you can still read the Carr book or most of it online at no charge....

Well today was much the same as yesterday except this morning started out pretty easy this afternoon was real bad.  I went in to eat like yesterday and boy was it hard.  I walked back and forth afterwords finally said I don't need them they won't help any.  Walked back to my truck and got one of the lozenges and it seemed to really help then I started playing a game that takes alot of time and use of hands.  Won this round and thanks to the great advice from you all today.

And ladycigevictor  I remembered what you said and it's not corny just a new way of thinking of that trash.
