No good excuse..but I'm back

Hi Jeannie,

Don't beat yourself up over the slip. Learn from that experience and be prepared when it happens again.
When I quit this last time I kept looking at everyone elses quit meters and kept telling myself that I want mine to be as high as some of the others.  In the beginning I thought that the 60 days was a big number and that is where I wanted to be.
Well I am now 3 days away from 60 days and I can't wait to get there.  It's not easy but you just need to pick a goal that is not that far out of reach and get there.  After that pick a new goal a little farther out and work towards it.
My new goal is 100 days.  Then I can join the others on the beach.
You can do this and we are always around to help.  Just POST!!!!  We will answer you.

hope you are still hanging in there Jeannie. Remember, smoking is a choice. You can quit. Work the program, get your coping basket together...ie sunflower seeds, ice water, hard candy, straws, gum, etc and get serious about this quitting thing. You can do it and the benefits are plentiful.

Jeannie:  I'm only at day 5 and I offer only two thoughts:  (1) don't beat yourself up; and (2) pause before you light another cigarette and remember why you want to quit.  Trust me--I'm spending almost my entire days in a state of pause.  Lisa

i like these two sayings ''never quit quitting'' and ''fake it 'til you make it''.

First of all I am glad you came back.  Remember there is no shame to a slip.  I know just how you feel.  I too, like Jan, have had more quits than I can count, but I never gave up trying.  I don't know why some can quit on their first try, like my husband, and never look back.  Not so with me.  I would never wish it upon anyone to quit the way I have, to many "Hell Weeks", but I do encourage everyone to never ever quit quitting, one day it will happen.

Keep the Quit

Welcome back Jeannie!
If it wasn't a fight, none of us would need this site or the support from each other.
Come here as often as you can, it really was the main thing that helped me.
Vent, rant, rave or whatever you need to do to get you thru the tough times. That is what is great about this site and the people here. We have all been thru it before. We know EXACTLY what each other is going thru. Set up your quit meter. That is still my treasure to this day. I don't want to have to set it back to zero, it has saved me so many times. All the work that I have done to get those huge numbers there, I don't want to give that up. It makes me proud.
Stay strong and keep coming back - OFTEN.

Hi Jeannie, welcome back.  And make sure you feel good about that.  You just didn't give up, you came back.  I stopped and started, stopped and started.... etc ..... until I finally got it right(I think).  Take this journey one baby step at a time, and come here often.  We're here to help in any way we can.  You CAN do this.

Cheers,

Jan

Congratulations on quitting Jeannie.   By tomorrow night you'll be free of the withdrawal symptoms as the nicotine will have left your body.  From then you'll be coping with the psychological cravings - You'll be half way through Hell Week!

You're doing the right thing by coming in here and posting about your experiences... keep posting and read, read, read!  Keep a positive mind-set and the focus always on your quit since this is the most important thing you will do for yourself.... You're saving your life ....!

Congrats on day 3! Slips happen and they don't have to equate relapse. Learn from your mistakes, tweak your quit plan and keep going!
