you are doing great and keep it up. give yourself a pat on the back every time you go through a craving and don't give in.
quitting is not an easy task, but a thing that can be beaten.
just go one craving, one hour one day at a time.
just think of all the benefits that are in the near future.
come here often and post often, it does help, and there is normally someone around to pick you up when you feel down.
congrats on your decision to quit, that is the biggest step already.

Still hangin' in.  Day three almost done.  I've been really busy.  Trying to remember how I coped as a nonsmoker those years ago.  First two days were easiest, but I was expecting that.
I had a note from a friend who saw my posts on facebook.  She revealed to me that she was diagnosed with emphesyma recently from years of smoking.  I'm still in shock, and feel awful for her, yet at the same time I guess it was what I needed to hear.
I just need to keep on reminding myself of all the good reasons I made this choice, and not expect it to be easy or quick.
Time for a nap.

I have been quit for 3 Days, 15 hours, 4 minutes and 57 seconds (3 days). I have saved $32.14 by not smoking 90 cigarettes. I have saved 7 hours and 30 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 6/19/2008 12:37 AM

It's been an ok day.  Got through it and kept busy.  Work was doable -- had everything I needed on hand -- not too bad.  Went outside for a couple of solitary Breathe Breaks.
Detoxing my environment is going to take some time.  I need to bag things up and wash them, clean walls, etc.  Soft furnishings are also a problem.  Wish I'd done my smoking outside.
I"m going to bed early -- very tired.  Thanks for being here.

BTW I had to uninstall the "quit meter" from my computer because it created big problems (wouldn't let me shut down).  This actually happened twice.  Sorry I can't use that tool.

River,

Welcome to our support community!  You seem to be well prepared, now step it up a notch!  Use those activities that you love to do as coping mechanisms and avoidance techniques.  Make a crave basket for work with gum, candy, chew sticks, magazines and anything that will help you cope with the crave.

Get out and go for a walk to clear your mind!  Make sure you plan some rewards for yourself when you reach milestones and put relaxation techniques in gear when you are feeling stressed and low.  They can help you ease into sleep and feel refreshed the next day!

Most of all, post with us and let us help support you through this journey!

( An aside for Karren)
...  you know we all repeat ourselves and most of what we say takes the form of cliches after a while.  They may lose a little value under the pressure of the constant repetition - but, by the same token, it holds true that the oft repeated homily is right-on and correct and is exactly what needs to be said and repeated over and over again... we are all trying to conjure up new ways to live in daily routines and we (I) have to be reminded everyday (as tho' I have Alzheimer's) that I must not take a drag, N.O.P.E. and drink lots of water, and distract, divert, breathe, reward, exercise, eat healthily and etcetera and so on.... I love it when the members repeat the cardinal rules to me and the new folk in their posts... they always ring that Pavlov's bell in my head...

You're doing great, Karren, and, please, keep giving the support to others just as you have been doing since you got here!

Patrick
