Smokerella,  you have not failed!  You don't fail until you quit trying.  Quitting is hard, possibly the hardest thing I have ever done.  BUT, it is possible and you will do it!  Work through the program here... it really helps.  Drink plenty of water, take walks and keep some sugarfree gum/candy around.  Most of all, have a positive attitude...  remember you can do this!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...

Hi  and Welcome back..    You are human... and we are addicted to nicotine...  Nicotine is VERY VERY addicting.

We may have to quit more than once.. but we will get it.   You came back here... BIG CHEERS.

Now change your thinking... yes thats right.  You are a nicotine addict and the only way to beat this is N ot One Puff Ever Ever Ever...   (I'm not promising it is going to be a breeze....) BUT  as Jim says  Positive Mental Attitude...   You are NOT giving up ANything.. YOU are taking back control of your life and health.

( I was very close to caving today.... Luckily  I was in town.... and I told my husband.. and I was cranky... and they brought me chocolate chip cookies..... awwww. )   I even went to the store for lunch.. still thinking I wanted a smoke... got so involved picking out my lunch, by the time I left the store I wasn't even thinking of smoking...LOL

So be prepared.. with ice water, mints, gum... distractions..   you know how to start  .. you did this before.. Now we just have to keep the quit.. and not give in to the junkie

Welcome back Smokerella--and congrats on the decision to stop again!

Look--we all know that we are all just one puff away from smoking...it can happen to any one of us.....but what is important is that you are back and ready to quit again. I cheer your efforts and look forward to hearing from you how it goes...

 Good Luck, Deb

Smokerella,

Believe it or not now is a great time to quit.  Your sick and most people cut back a lot when they are sick.  Keep cutting back and pick a quit date.  The idea is to be prepared and ready for those craves when they surface.  We do know where you are coming from and can really be of assistance to you.  We welcome you to our support community and know that we can make a difference

Smokerella - so sorry to hear about your loss.  I lost my grandmother years ago, she was the first really close family member that I lost.  It was horrible.  Try to change your thought pattern about what you think she thinks about you.  For example, try not to think "grandma would be so disappointed in me right now" but change it to "Grandma would be cheering me on to not smoke right now". or "Grandma would be so proud of me for starting to quit again"    I know it is a little difference, but that little difference over a period of time changes everything.

Sorry for your loss dear. This is a tough time for you, mourning and an infection and a sense of disappointment. One thing at a time, get lots of rest and get over this bronchitis. Your grandmother is proud of you and I'm sure it unconditional. Don't be hard yourself for the relapse and try again when you feel strong enough. Be proud of yourself. Don't quit for someone else, do it for yourself. Remember everyday is new beginning. Keep trying and you'll reach your goal.

Welcome back, Smokerella!!!

First of all, so sorry to hear about your grandmother... my thoughts go out to you!   It really is good though to dedicate a quit to a loved one... I did the same thing for my Dad and Brother!

NOW...    You know the drill!!!   You've set your quit meter!!!   NOW,  prepare yourself, psych yourself up and get ready for your LAST  QUIT!!!

DO NOT  beat yourself up over the cave!!  It happens and you have made the decision to get back on the horse and get it done!!!  So prepare yourself, get that CAN DO attitude geared up, get ready!!!  You have gone through a rough patch and now it's time to shake it off and make a fresh start!!!

You just sort of disappeared last time, so do us all a favor this time???  Post when you're having a rough time and wait for the 5 responses!!!  Let us help you get through your craves!!!  Get your coping strategies worked out and get your crave basket filled!!!  Write a good bye letter to those nasty cancer sticks!!!  Keep that list of reasons for quitting handy!!!  Like I said, you know the drill!!!

The most important thing to remember is that we are here for you and keep reminding yourself that YOU CAN DO IT!!!

     Jim
