Welcome Lori!

Great decision you made to stop smoking. We are all in this together and will help anyway we can...

I found frequent reading of old posts, current threads and posting myself was really helpful in the very beginning. Stay close and get the support you need from others who have been through what you are going through.

I have to say, after getting through the first few rough weeks--it really is much easier when you just really accept that you are a non-smoker (not someone who is trying to quit).....

There are lots of good things waiting for you on the non-smoking side of life--no worries of how many cigs left, matches, lighters, where can I smoke, do I smell, what if I get cancer, etc......and much, much more..

So--glad you are here--walk the journey with us..there are strength in numbers

Deb

Hiya, Lori,
Yes, you have yourself in control and you're doing all the right things to secure your quit! Congratulations on your four days.
I admire you for being able to do this while under extra pressure ( I am lucky. I'm a neurotic but I am living alone for now and can control the soundscape in my apartment except for the mastiff upstairs who bounces his ball around the wood floors during the day while his master is at work... but we meet out in the parking lot when he's being walked and we like each other so he's cool and I'm cool...)
Your life and health will improve day by day as your quit lengthens. Stay close to the site and speak some more good sense - as you have done already!!

Patrick

Oh, thank you so much you guys!  I really needed some words of encouragement.  I did talk to the kids (they are both 9 son going to be 10 later this month) so they know that smoking is bad.  They want me to quit.  I explained to them before I quit that "mommy might be crazy" for awhile because I am getting rid of a drug.  We had a long talk about what makes me want to smoke and I made sure that I told them that smoking was my choice and it isn't their fault, but when they fight it stresses me out and that makes me want to smoke.  I told them that I didn't expect them to never fight, but I did ask that they help me quit by stopping when I ask them to the first time when they forget.  That worked well HA!

I did make it though and now starting day 4 and I am very hopeful.  You guys rock!  This site rocks!

Welcome aboard LoriA ! ! !

You've come to the best place - so many members with so much support and
wisdom to offer.  We all have something valuable to share on a daily basis.

I agree with Terry.. your kids are still going to be exactly the way they are even
without a smoke.  Your time out room .. can you put a lock on it and do you
own ear plugs ?  You've got 3, now 4 days under your belt smoke free ! That's
excellent Keep coming here to read read read and post often !

Peace

LoriA Welcome to the site.  This is definitely the place to get some help.  Remember the kids are going to be the same whiney snotty kids :) with or without a cigarette.  Like I always like to say Withdrawl sypmtoms will not kill you but the smokes may.  We are very happy you are here.

Lori, I feel for you!  I rolled my ankle also, on saturday, at a street fair, it hurts!!  I bought a brace at the drugstore and it really helps along with ice.  I am much better today.

You came to the right place.  There is a ton of info here, read read read, search in the search bar for Chantix, read read read and post.  It helps.

I quit with it a year ago, you can too.

We are here to help.
I hope you feel better!
Sue
