Thanks guys! Luckily no one here at work smokes, so I could not even bum a cig if I wanted to. I am eating my comfort food Cheetos, and trying to dive into work. It is helping. I took a walk and thought about all I have to do tonight when I get home. So all your suggestions are helping. Man what a roller coaster this is. I hope by tomarrow the nicotine is out of my system and all I have to deal with is the habit part of this. These cravings can be very stressful at times. If eating is my trigger, for today anyway I may not stop eating. Just a thought! Thanks again everyone!! I am so glad I am not alone in this. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/29/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 40 Amount Saved: $3.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 21 Seconds: 46

Beckylynn, If you feel the urge, or are tempted to slip: AVOID the situation. Identify the situations when you normally smoke or chew, or feel cravings. For most, high-risk situations include work breaks, finishing meals, having coffee or being in a bar. Plan how you will avoid these situations for a few weeks. Plan for alternate activities. LEAVE the situation. If you find yourself in one of these high risk situations, leave if you can. And, leave before you get a craving. DISTRACT yourself from the craving. If you find yourself in a situation you can't leave and you get a craving, distract yourself from the craving by: Thinking about something else, like your Benefits of Quitting (or how much money youre saving every week, how your body is healing itself). Doing something else to distract yourself like drinking water or deep breathing exercises. Thinking about an upcoming event in your life, such as a vacation. DELAY acting on the craving If you can't keep your mind off it, then make a deal with yourself that you will wait 5 minutes before you give into the craving. The craving will usually pass in a couple of minutes anyway. If you delay, the craving will go away. Use SELF TALK A craving may be accompanied by negative thoughts about your ability to resist it. Use positive self talk statements to combat your negative thoughts Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

Hi Beckylynn, Can be a bit of a rollercoaster, to say the least. Your emotions may be all over the place for a little while so be kind to yourself right now. Try right now to remember that in a short while, the crave will lighten up and you will feel better. This can be a powerful addiction for some, but remember that this feeling will pass. Beckylynn, help has arrived. Please just don't smoke. After eating is usually a big trigger for most smokers. If you can last thru today the nicotine should be out of your system. Drink lots of cold water and eat on some of those fat free and healthy snacks you should have with you. You did the right thing in posting. Keep up the good work. I know you can do this.
