Gunnar, Well...it will get easier, that i can promise, but first, it will get a little harder. Quitting smoking is the hardest thing that i have done and i am 7 years clean and sober, so i have quit a lot of things before tackling this one. I just know that it is worth it, sometimes i don't believe it myself, but it is. Come to this site and post as much as you want to get the support and help you need. JUST DON'T SMOKE. Sleep all you can, your body needs it. JUST DON'T SMOKE. Chew, eat, drink. JUST DON'T SMOKE. Can you imagine having to go thru all this PAIN again?! You won't have to...JUST DON'T SMOKE. Rant all you want, that's why we are here. JUST DON'T SMOKE. You CAN and WILL do this. If I could and didn't even want to, then anyone can. I truly believe that. Best wishes on your smoke free journey. Gunnar, you are right on schedule. It is not easy, but just hang on it will pass as long as you don't light up. Sleep all you can, drink water, sunflower seeds are good. Someone told me once to freeze grapes and suck on those. They aren't to bad. The crawling out of the skin is just part of the withdrawal. Give yourself a hug. I am assuming that you are doing this cold turkey, if so this will get better. They say it takes 3 days for the nicotine to leave the body. It will take longer to relearn behavior with out having a cigarette, but you can and will do it. Do it just one minute, one hour, one day at a time. My thoughts are with you. I knew this was going to be hard. I just want to sleep and I was VERY irritable at work today. Okay..in all honesty I was down right cranky!! I don't want to smoke but I can't get it out of my head. I feel like I am coming out of my skin. I am going to lay down and try to go to sleep after I walk the dog. I have been reading the reasons I wrote down for quitting all day long. I munched on sunflower seeds and chewed a lot of gum. Please tell me that tomorrow will be easier..although it is only day 2 I just hope it is a little better. Sorry for the rant.
