Hi & welcome Beckylynn...you have found a great place to get the help and support you need to quit smoking. All of us here have the same goal (NOPE--not one puff ever) & it's terrific to see the those with years under their belt and those who are still fairly new in their quit share what is helping them. SO---Just know this CAN be accomplished and using this site and all it's information can be very helpful. Cold water, deep breaths & prayer have all helped me in addition to reading and posting here. Good Luck & Just remember ---Smoking IS NOT an Option ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,560 Amount Saved: $351.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 0 Mins: 12 Seconds: 32

Beckylynn Welcome! I am glad you are here and ready for your quit. Taking the chantix that long and still smoking must have kept you in a state of anticipation. Better to go ahead and get er done. LOL What Jim Said! Plain and simple follow the tools of this program, but the biggest help for me has always been the people on this site because you will always find someone that has experienced what you will be going thru. I also took the chantix for a week and then quit and stopped taking the chantix after 4 weeks quit. It enables you to get thru the anxiety in the beginning but can become a crutch. That positive mental attitude is soooooooooooooo important. Do what YOU have to to quit. The quit is the most important thing. I've said this before and I'll say it again. You will not die from the withdrawls but you could die from the smoking. We are here for you Terry My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 650 Amount Saved: $97.50 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 11 Mins: 36 Seconds: 2

Hey Beckylynn, Congratulations!!! I also quit using Chantix and it really minimized the cravings I had on previous quits!!! So, you're one step ahead in your fight to end the addiction!!! Have you read throught the program and gone through the milestones yet? I found that to be very helpful in preparing for my quit day, as well as through the first month or so! Also, you really HAVE to have a Positive Mental Attitude going into this process!!! You really have to have that mindset that you are no longer going to be a smoker and that you will do anything to get past this addiction!!! This site and our members have been very instrumental for me to become a non-smoker!!! Like I told another new quitter earlier today, I was on this site quite a bit in the beginning of my quit!! Read the program and read a lot of the posts that are in these forums, as there is a wealth of information about how to deal with withdrawals and cravings!!! If you have a really bad crave, post and wait for 5 replies! By then your craving will have passed!!! The main thing is to be committed, take it one minute, one hour, and one day at a time and you CAN be successful in your quit!!! Good luck and get that quit meter going, and it is very rewarding seeing your numbers grow daily!! I too used the Chantix, it did decrease the cravings, but I had to also just start believing in myself. You can do it, it is rough and a change, but if you want it, it can be done.
